bikesandbeers (420), San Diego, California, USA Feb 6, 2008 sampled on tap at the San Diego Strong Ale Festival Nov 2008, an event share with what seemed liked hundreds of ratebeerians and enjoyed mostly through a straw, since my face was a bloody mess of scabs and stitches. hazy gold color. citrus hopy arom a with some malt. obvoius hoppy flavor with a decent amount fo malt that doesn’t ablence it out, but addeds a kinda of drity texture to what would otherwise be clean hops. interesting, but not stellar. badlizard (1568), San Diego, California, USA Dec 26, 2007 Tasted at Pizza Port. Hazy golden with a creamy white head. Grapefruit and orange aroma and taste with a nice crisp pine flavor and a dry finish. swoopjones (1240), Buffalo, New York, USA Dec 10, 2007 On tap @ Pizza Port Solana Beach. Copper gold color. Huge citrus hop aroma. Some grapefruit but not overbearing like some DIPA’s. Tad watery at finish but Very good jarspag (531), San Diego, California, USA Dec 3, 2007 PP SAF ’07. Another solid Port offering...they don’t usually fail with IIPA’s. This one is good, but as far as making my taste buds bounce, it fell a little short of the big time IIPA’s. Very balanced, clean, sharp - but not overly impressive by any means. Hop 15 please. hapjydeuce (622), Carlsbad, USA Dec 2, 2007 Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival 07. I didn’t really think too much about this IIPA, but then again, my palate was pretty wrecked after dousing it with BP Victory at Sea just prior to tasting this one. Slightly hazy orange color with a dissipating rocky head. Grapefruit citrus and hops aroma that has a strong malty undertone. I was ready to dive into this one based on the aroma, but I remember the flavors fading too quickly. I couldn’t quite get a good bite out of this beer; I tend to enjoy IIPA’s that slam the palate and linger forever with caramel malt and hops, but this one seemed to die out quickly. Plenty of carbonation and good mouthfeel, but I thought it was missing something.
