Draught at the brewpub. Clear pale nut brown. Salty and peary with medium body. The mouthfeel is crisp and rounded and there’s some crystal malt flavour. Medium bitterness. An Irish ale with loads of substance.

Plastic, vinyl and solventy notes to the minty, sweet, waxy aroma. Clear reddish brown body with a low white head that recedes to ring. Plain tasting toasted light malt base with some caramel malts and light bitterness. Medium light body with moderate carbonation. Sampled at GABF 2005.

On tap from the brewpub. Tasted during trip to California. Brown colour with no foam. Nice malty nose, little hints of whisky. Extremely nice whisky flavour not much but so much that you can taste it, very innovative.

On tap at Solana Beach. Pours light brown-copper with small cream head. Light fruits and nuts in the aroma. Flavors of lightly roasted malt, nuts. A little thin on the palate, but overall a refreshing drinkable beer.

(Draft: Pizza Port in Solana Beach, CA) Granted, I haven’t have a lot of exposure to quality Irish Ales, but this is possibly the best tasting Irish Ale I’ve tried. Malty, nutty, lightly roasty, some caramel, but only mildly sweet, with a mild bitterness that complements the malts very well. Wonderfully malty and gently roasty nose is very nice. Medium body, with a nice, full mouthfeel. Ruddy, medium brown body is topped by a quickly dissipating, light tan head. Very enjoyable, and a great surprise since I was only expecting a "decent" brew.

Very dark amber color with a small (bar pour) off white head. Faint sweet fruity scent (cherry?). Flavor starts lightly sweet turning shaply peppery with a hint of tart black cherry in the finish. Light spritzy palate.
