Tap at Toronado SD, $5. Slightly hazy orange yellow with a small off-white head, fair retention. Nose has floral hops and citrus up front, a bit of biscuit and sweet malt. Flavor has a good amount of danky pine and citrus rind notes, a little caramel and cotton candy sweetness to balance. Light to moderate dry hopped notes. Gets a little floral in the backend, Finish is dry and has some firm earthy bitterness peaking at a 7, and a bit of spicy alcohol as well. Medium full body with prickly light to mod carbonation. Pretty tasty--glad I got to try it. Poor Man’s is my favorite since we’ve been back in CA.

Pours a clear golden color with a tall white head. Sort of an herbal hop aroma to it with a nice pine and citrus peel note as well. Just a bit of bready malt. Heavy on the pine flavors with a moderate bitterness. Somewhat citrusy, but more citrus peel in nature. A bit of herbal character. Medium in body with medium to high carbonation.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 peteinSD (521) - San Diego, California, USA - DEC 2, 2011
On tap. Clear yellow and slight orange pour with a thing tan head. Aroma is bit subdued with pine, bitter hops, and soft citrus. Taste is pine, light bitterness, citrus, sweet melon ,and a very nice malt back bone that balances a dry biscuit malt and sweet melon character. Taste is better than the aroma. Very nice IIPA despite the slightly less than amazing aroma.
