On cask, Solana Beach location. Pours a very hazy gold with a one finger bright white creamy head with amazing retention. Aroma is wonderfully soft and floral, with some grapefruity notes. Great bready and doughy malt base. Lighter notes of orange. Flavor is just extremely smooth. Great soft hoppiness with no bitterness save for a light finishing citric bitterness. The malt was as light and bready as the aroma suggested. Absolutely no alcohol at all in the flavor. Mouthfeel is soft and well rounded with perfect cask conditioned minimal carbonation. Very creamy in texture. Quite possibly the perfect beer for that day sitting on an outside porch patio in November while wearing shorts. California in great! I could have sat there all afternoon just drinking this beer.

Oct 30, 2008 Draught at GABF 2008. Cloudy yellow - white head. Grassy, pine, wet grass, high hoppy, resin, cookies, peppery, knækbrød - swedish flatbread. Classic american IIPA.
BlackForestCO (629), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA
Oct 24, 2008 Multiple samples at GABF. Poured a clear yellow color with a thin, soapy white head that left decent lacing. Strong aroma of piny, resiny hops, some floral spiciness, and a moderate citrus fruitiness (grapefruit, orange, and lemon). Strong earthy hop hit right off the bat with a good resiny, piny flavor with some leafy spiciness, and some soft citrus fruit that leads into a decent caramel maltiness that is quickly subdued by a bitter, earthy hop finish with some undertones of pine. One of the better IPA/IIPA’s I tried at GABF.
Aubrey (2625), Denver, Colorado, USA
Oct 20, 2008 GABF 08: Another one of my favorites at this year’s GABF. Lively carb., creamy texture. Blast of hop aromas right off the bat (pine sap, bitter orange, tart grapefruit, wildflowers and grass). Solid malt backbone, with caramel and cocoa. Some sourness and a solid bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. Very tasty stuff.

Oct 20, 2008 GABF 2008. Pours clear light yellow with a small, fizzy, white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, straw), heavy hops (flowers, perfume, pine, spruce), average yeast (sweat) with notes of apple, pear, and peach. Medium bodied, sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, heavy acidity and bitterness.
