UPDATED: JAN 8, 2006 On tap@Port Solana: Cloudy pale golden color with a small (bar pour) white head. Aroma is light pineapple and citrus. Flavor starts fruity sweet then some grapefruit, a light hop bite on the tongue and a lingering citrus finish. Tangy, creamy palate.

draft at solana beach: Yellow brown color with medium white head. Aroma is full of hops, maybe a touch of sweetness, lots of pine. Flavor is very bitter, all about the bitterness. Is there any malt in this? A good brew, not at all balanced, but does the hops thing well. Nice full palate.

UPDATED: JUN 29, 2004 Rerate 06/29/2004: This batch definetely does not qualify as a Swami light, as my original rating implied. The hops are VERY pronounced in the batch. Citrus and pine in great harmony. Wow, this is a really great beer. Original Rating: On Cask (Solana Beach). Cloudy, golden color. Pine and citrus hop flavors. Agree with jeffc666, that this is a Swami-lite; still bitter but slightly more subdued. Overall a great beer.

Cask conditioned from brew-pub. Hazy, amber beer with little head. Aroma is sweet and fruity, fresh apples, peaches and light citrus hops. Flavor is also sweet and fruity with balancing hops apparent in the finish and lingering aftertaste. Smooth, medium body, virtually no carbonation and slight syrupy feel.

Cask-conditioned, very hoppy aroma and flavor. Good citrus flavors from the hops. A step below the Swami's IPA but still a VERY hoppy beer.

Cask conditioned: cloudy golden brown color. Hoppy aroma -- grapefruity aroma that borders closely on pine. Can definitely taste the grapefruit and hoppiness, too, but it has enough sweetness (not caramel and not sugar, but sweetness) that it's not too bitter (mind you, I love hop bitter). Nice beer.

(cask): Cloudy amber body with minimal head. Aroma is grapefruit, medium sweet, some fruity (melon). Taste is mild sweet, grapefruit/pine bitter, light fruity. Finish is fairly bitter grapefruit. Medium/full body, some stickiness, minimal carbonation.
