johnyvt (157), West Hollywood, California, USA Apr 9, 2005 Tap at Carlsbad. Light pink pour. Seems a lot like a watered down flemish sour. Big seltzer water taste, cherries and grapefruits. Interesting, drinkable, and actually kind of refreshing, but could use more kick to it.
SG (456), San Clemente, California, USA Jun 3, 2005 Enjoyed at the port. Champagne-like, dry mouthfeel with a pink tint. There is a nice amount of sourness to balance out the sugary aspects. Cherry all the way, but subtle enough to make it good. Refreshing. A very well made fruit beer. DYCSoccer17 (2049), Davis, California, USA Apr 9, 2005 Draft at Carlsbad. Pungent sweet cherry aroma with Maraschino Cherry aroma. Not really any beer characteristics in the aroma. Moderately hazy amber/pinkish color with a small whte head. Astringent bitter cherry notes to start with a mild malty sweetness to finish. Not bad. JohnC (1779), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jan 23, 2005 On draft at Pizza Port San Clemente. They said it was brewed in Carlsbad. it’s a pinkish orange colored beer with a nice nose & dry finish. The cherry flavor was a bit too soft-drink like, though. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Jan 20, 2005 (Draft: Pizza Port in San Clemente, CA) Mon Cherry in Carlsbad, but Mon Cheri in San Clemente. Either way, this is a very nice beer. Wonderful cherry nose is quite aromatic but not overwhelming. The cherry flavor is both tart and sweet, and it dominates this beer, but it’s not a massive pie filling flavor like the New Glarus Belgian Red. Tart, clean palate is zesty and refreshing. The lighting isn’t the greatest, but the color appears to be a combination of red, pink, and amber, and the appearance is fairly hazy. Pinkish white head is small, and fades to only a tiny rim after a few minutes. No lace. My female companion hates beer, yet she liked this one, but this is not a girlie beer in my opinion. Even though there are always so many great beers on tap at any of the Pizza Port locations, this is one I’d definitely have again.
