On cask at PP Carlsbad. Pours with a black hued body and a retentive tan head. Aromas are deeply chocolatey, lightly spicy, earthy, woody, with alcohol. Nutty and a light burn. Flavors are hot with alcohol and spice, chocolate, earthy, medium heat and quite a bit of alcohol. Base beer is a bit hidden. Thick body, low carbonation, velvety mouthfeel.

Cask at PP C’bad. Pitch black, creamy light tan head. Milk chocolate, light jalapeno (not spicy), earthy pepper, and Mexican chocolate. Very smooth and creamy body. Good.

On Cask at Pizza port Carlsbad. pitch black. Excellent spicy chocolate aroma. The cask gives it a milky smoothness. The spicy chocolate flavors really stand out. I love that combo in a big stout.

So excited to see this on cask...interested to see how aggressive/assertive the other ingredients would be and how they would play with the already incredible base beer. Truthfully, the subtleties were a bit disappointing. Hint of agave, pinch of jalepeno flavor but without heat, and the Mexican chocolate influence was swallowed up by the already intense cocoa addition. Very tasty...just not different.
