3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Keg at Cask Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Rich, boozy, roasty aroma. Tastes similar, rich, slight sweetness, some coffee and chocolate, roasty. Decent stout but doesnt compare to the beautiful coffee monster that I consumed before this.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2012
Location: Guest tap at the Maui Brewpub, 7/6/12
Aroma: The aroma is coffee, chocolate, booze, and some burnt malts
Appearance: This one has a dark brown pour, with a brown head, and average lace-work
Flavor: The taste is heavy malts and booze, and is quite similar to nose component-wise
Palate: The body is fairly full, it is heavy boozy, and it ends with a dry and hot finish
Interesting, boozy Impy. Stout. This was certainly a nice one to see on guest tap, since we don’t get much Pizza Port stuff on the East Coast, but their beers that I have tried are usually pretty enjoyable.

On tap at Sour & Bitter. Bit sozzled when I rated this one but still managed to write: Opaque black beer, big tan head. Crispy palate! And light too! Good dark chocolate and coffee. Dry crispy finish.

Sour & Bitter Festival CPH 2012. Black with a small, but lasting tan head. Roasted aroma with licorice, along with bready malty notes. Sweetish licorice and roasted malt flavour. Sweet and pretty intense dark experience, but with good balance

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Tap @ S&B. Best Pizza Port beer of the evening, and one of the best American Imperial Stouts I’ve had to date. I didn’t take notes as I drank it, but this is a beer that I won’t forget until later this afternoon. The aroma was amazing and had lots of chocolate - dark bitter cocoa, chocolate ganache, muscovado sugar, some roasted bitterness and coffee notes. Sweet hints of vanilla, chocolate milk and dates. Small hints of citrusy and fruity hops in the back and just enough. Amazingly balanced, hugely complex. The taste was just as good as the aroma - huge sweetness and chocolate notes - dark bitter chocolate, roasted malts, silky smooth vanilla and caramel sweetness. Then a delicious balance of coffee bitterness and hops - nice bitterness and subtle notes of citrus and grapefruit. I was amazed at how balanced and well tasting this beer was - it really stood out on a night SO full of good beers. Top 3 non-barrel aged imperial stout for me - amazing beer!

Sample @ the Sour & Bitter event in Copenhagen. Pours black with a creamy chocolate brown head that is rather quick to dissipate and doesnät leave much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet with roasted malts, coffee, wood, sweet soy sauce, dark bread, honey and hints of smoke and resin. Taste is sweet and bitter with quality dark roast coffee, roasted malts, salty liquorice, vanilla, dark bread, burnt caramel, wood, honey and hints of wet soil. Mouthfeel is round, very tiny dry and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with dark bread, wood, coffee, pine and wet soil.
