Theis (2495), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 30, 2008 Updated: Nov 17, 2008Draught at GABF 2008. Black - brown head. Burned, alcoholic, nice hoppy, sharpness, licorice, light smokey notes, chocolate. Simple but very nice - lovely..... Tasted again at the workers afterparty after GABF 2008 Fridays session, I am adding: Bottle, coffee, sharpness... almost same rating. JohnnyJ (721), Oceanside, California, USA Oct 25, 2008 I tried this and sticky stout on the same night. This was a more standard imp stout, sweeter, heavier mouthfeel, and less dry and earthy then the sticky. Pours a dark brown black with light brown head. Nice rich flavor of raisin, dark fruit, sweet chocolate, liquorice, caramel, and roasted malt. Nicely done. danielcurtis81 (262), San Diego, California, USA Oct 18, 2008 Draft at the Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours a rich black with a thin cream head. Alcohol and oats on the nose. Real good oat and malt flavors, a bit of smoke. Alcoholic mouthfeel. Very tasty IS, good way to unwind from a long day. joergen (6821), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 17, 2008 Draught at GABF 2008.
Black coloured with a medium sized beige head.
Roasted aroma of liquorice, chocolate and hops.
Roasted flavour of liquorice, chocolate and hops.
Roasted finish. paytoplay (62), , California, USA Sep 12, 2008 I was impreed with this brew on tap at Hamiltons in San Diego. Dark rich, a bit of alc on the finish. Lots of dark roast coffee and coco. Not as smooth as some others but a rare brew to make it out of an actual Pizza Port facility and be at another brew pub. Quality is very high and a good effort was put forward. Carbination was also high which aided in cleaning up the dark richness but maybe too much?
