hopdog (4779), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 19, 2006 Hand bottled sample shared courtesy of egajdzis. Poured a dark black color with a very small sized off white head. On the initial whiff I got a nice milk chocolate smell that gave way to smoke, roasted malts, some dark fruits and some vanilla. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla and a light bitter coffee finish. CaptainCougar (4687), Rockville, Maryland, USA Dec 21, 2006 On tap at Carlsbad on 6/30/06: Pours a very opaque, viscous black with a nice, dense, well-lacing tan head. Rich caramel malty and roasty aroma has some good mild dark fruit notes. Body starts with a full, sweet palate, lots of caramel and milk chocolate flavor and a good dark fruity complexity. Balanced with a nice, fresh piney hop bitterness thoughout, hiding the alcohol. A very nice, complex and enjoyable imperial stout!
