Growler thanks to Chris from ba. Nice... Pours a predominantly stouty pour with a medium consistency and topped with a light beige head... Aroma is adequate and roasty with chocolate notes, solid double stout aroma... Flavors are sweet upfront, through the middle with a follow-up with roasted malts with a bittering backend. Body is solid with enough carb. A bit of residual sweetness towards the end but the bittering roast cuts through that.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2012 (Draught) Pours black with almost no head. The aroma holds hard roast - liquorice, espresso, dark chocolate, roasted nuts, brown sugar and asphalt. Some piny and earthy hops alongside a touch of vanilla and meat. The flavour is light to medium sweet, light to medium bitter and tiny acidic with notes of hard roast, balanced hops, brown sugar, vanilla and a touch of dark fruits. The mouthfeel is creamy, soft and light sticky with a light carbonation. Roasted and brown sugar-ish aftertaste. Medium to full bodied.

On tap @ PPOB - Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and toffee. Flavor is sweetened malt, chocolate, and light hops. Finish is lightly sweetened chocolate. Medium body. A very good beer.

Phone rate. Tap at OB. Black w/small tan head, down to a ring quickly. A half finger head will rouse with decent retention. Aroma of lots of roast, dark chocolate behind with toasty grain and light pine hops. Flavor has big roast and some bitter chocolate up front with some toasty malts and caramel lactose sweetness, some anise there as well as light coconut.A bit burnt and ashy in the dry finish, bitterness at a 6. Pretty low carbonation with a medium full body. Not my fave from OB--I like Z-Man much better, and 1% less ABV.

Draft @ PP OB. Pours fairly black, thin tan head. Chocolate forward nose that pretends to foreshadow a beer with adequate sweetness. Unfortunately the flavors lack the sweetness the back the aggressively annoying hop presence that seems to burn their grassy abrasiveness into your palate. There’s a bit of roasted malt, some cocoa powder too, but that grassy bitterness distracts and it just lingers on forever too. I’m really getting sick of brewers not keeping their bitterness in check, its fucking annoying.

Draft at Mikkeller Bar. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, some fruit and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap @ Mikkeller bar. A near black one with a small lacing and sidesticking tah head. Aroma is filled with sweet-ish chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, leather and licorice. Light hints of tobacco also. Flavors are packed with chocolate paper. If you ever wonder how chocolate paper taste like, this is damn near the blueprint. Really coffee-strong also, not the dark concentrated - more like normal filtered coffee. It’s average carbonated and has a light oily texture. Enjoyable indeed. 13.05.2012

On tap at Dark Lord Day 2012. Chocolate malt and ash aroma. Black/brown with a small tan head. Chocolate, coffee, ash flavor with a roasted bitter finish. Smooth full body. Solid predictable stout.

Draught @ Mikkeller Bar. Notes of vanilla, chocolate, molasses, milk, cofeebeans and fruit. Maybe a bit thin, altough drinkable.

On tap @ PP Ocean Beach: Poured a dark black liquid and was topped with a very thing layer of head. Aroma is too hard for me to smell but I was ABLE to get a tiny whiff of roasted malts. The flavor was rich and robust with dark roasted down malts that suggest coffee and chocolate. Delicious American stout that goes down right and has finally started to give me a buzz even though I was on my third pint (the other beers were weaklings).
