West USA trip 2010. On tap @ Pizza Port Carlsbad. The aroma has some malt, is floral and citric. Clear, copper-golden coloured with a white head. The taste is slightly bitter, crisp, has citrus mostly, some malt and flowers.

On tap at Pizza Port Ocean Beach. After a bunch of IPAs, this one tastes a little weak and malty with subdued fruit, melon, citrus. I’m sure it’s better before a bunch of hop monsters. Very decent and drinkable.

Served on tap at Port OB. The appearance is a clear golden orange. The flavors and aromas have a nice hop edge with a clean malt backing, a touch grassy. The mouth is highly carbonated. A solid pale ale.

Nose was mild on hops, fairly floral with hints of citrus, very drinkable but not that memorable.

Golden amber pour, White head. Lightly sweet, biscuit, and grassy hops. Very light and drinkable, but overall pretty boring.

A: The pour is a clear golden amber color with a nice white head and some sticky lacing. S: A bit on the malty side with a lot of bread aromas. The aroma is light overall, but there are some hop notes. They seem to be mild citrus, straw, and some grass. T: The flavor starts off fairly hop forward. Mostly citrus peel with a little bit of bitterness. Some grass and floral hop flavors are also there and the bread and malt provide the bulk of the flavor. M: Light to medium in body with a medium level of carbonation. O: Sort of underwhelming. Not really hoppy but not all that malty either.

Golden orange pour with a thin head. The nose is a little bit sweet with a distinct caramelly nose. There is a touch of light butterscotch in the caramel that I could definitely do without. A little bit of light grassiness to the hopping as well. There is a lingering caramel and a touch of sweetness as well. More caramelly than I typically prefer but it does have a decent balance of malt and hops. As it warms some lighter grapefruit citrus comes through.

This was a nice and clean pale ale with not much hoppiness to it. I drank it after the wet hop and it still wasnt very hoppy. Nice and refreshing and went well with a spicy pie.
