3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 womencantsail (6866) - Garbage Grove, California, USA - DEC 12, 2010A: The pour is a dark amber color with a nice off-white head forming on top and spotty lacing.
S: A pretty nice hop character to this one. A great grapefruit and orange rind aroma with some caramel malts and toffee. A moderate breadiness and a touch of alcohol.
T: Starts off with juicy, slightly bitter grapefruit, tangeringe, and maybe a bit of grass. The hops die away somewhat quickly, which was a touch disappointing, but the malt backbone is pretty good. A bit of bread and some moderately sweet caramel flavors. There is a decent bitterness to this one as well, which I enjoyed.
M: The body is medium to full with a nice lively carbonation and a decently dry finish for the style.
D: Pretty good beefed up red ale. I find this sort of beer to be hit or miss, but this was pretty good, and my first beer from PP OB.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 iowaherkeye (2636) - Ocean Beach, San Diego, California, USA - AUG 27, 2012
Tap at OB. Clear garnet with a tiny beige head due to the pour, looks fairly creamy though. Flavor is pretty fruity between the citrus hops and toffee notes. The toffee isn’t scorched, though, which usually makes me mad for this style. Lots of crystal malt in here, though. Also a bit of cotton candy sweetness. Finishes with bitterness at a 4 and earthy, alcohol masked well except for the light burn in my empty stomach. Medium full body with low carbonation that heavies the beer. I do like this batch better than the last. The aroma added a weird slightly unpleasant tang that the flavor didn’t have. 6-3-7-3-14--3.3
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (7300) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 11, 2012
Draught Amber-brown beer with a small yellowish rim. Fine dry, aromatic hops, wafting in between some more plain malts. Immediately bitter, husks, walnut and dry spices’ taste (not flavour). In the finish, the bitterness recedes in front of coloured malts. Dry, medium bodied. Medal winner. I understand why.

Sampled at the AZ Strong Beer Fest. First pour of the day. Dark reddish copper pour with a small ivory head. Loads of caramel, toffee, dark fruit, and roasted nuts in this one. Touch of citrus but more herbaceous and sticky sweet. A bit hot...can definitely taste and feel the ABV in this one.
