Nitro at OB. Black, ruby edges, light beige nitro head. Nose is bakers chocolate and clean roast--not burnt at all--light toasted grain. Flavor is mainly toasty and roasty, does turn a bit burnt by the bone dry finish. No sweetness, bitterness peaked at a 3ish. Scant carbonation with a light to medium body. My least favorite stout from them, but not bad at all.

On tap at the source. Pours with what appears to be nitro. Creamy tan head, very deep brown body. Aromas are roasty, dry, bitter, chocolate and light leather. Flavors are very smooth, clean, creamy, oatmeal, dry chocolate. Very creamy carbonation, light bodied. Pleasant.

My first beer from PPOB and a very good first impression, not that I ever doubted PP would open another less-than-stellar brewery. Very well balanced and smooth dark coffee and chocolate malt flavor with a light and creamy body and dry finish. Tons of great malt character here, in a ridiculously drinkable package. This is a style that a lot of brewpubs don’t do very well on and end up putting out thin, bland Guinness clones. This crushes Guinness like no one’s business.

Tap @ Carlsbad. Not my favorite style but....... Pours a deep coffee brown with a small off white / beige head. Coffee grounds, bitter sweet cocoa and roasted malts in the nose, much of the same in the flavor. Nice and dry in the finish, very true to style.

A: The beer pours a very dark brown color that is nearly black. The head is creamy, dense, and khaki in color.
S: I get a lot of coffee and dark chocolate/cocoa notes out of this, which is pretty typical. A pretty substantial amount of roast and maybe even a slight creaminess. Not as overly dry and acidic on the nose as a lot of the beers of this style.
T: Unfortunately, the flavor is not as impressive as the smell. This is pretty watery and as such, the beer lacks flavor. Some decent chocolate and coffee notes along with some roast and bitterness make up what is there.
M: The body is thin and watery with a smooth, typical nitro carbonation.
D: I quite liked the nose, but the flavor was a real disappointment. I know Nitro is appropriate for this style, but it really sort of kills the flavor a lot of time.

On tap at Urge in RB/Poway. I coulda sworn it said "Dude" Where’s... Black with light off-white head. Solid and thick. Oaty and milky and sweet. Light and even fruity for a stout. I’m likin’ me some o’ this dry stout.

lots of dry roasty malty character slightly sour. Light. Good example of the style. Kinda creaminess just lingers in the finish. Decent
