4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the brewery. Aroma is hoppy, a little flowery and pine. A copper amber color, clear. Malty, but still balanced towards the hops without being overdone. Bitter, dry finish. Clean and drinkable. Very nice.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft at PB Taproom. Arrives a mostly clear dark amber color with a moderate whitish head that left some nice lacing. Aroma of toasty malts and gentle piney, resiny notes. Flavor is toasty-bitterish and caramel malts, with more of the piney and resiny hops. Light to medium body and tingly carbonation. Well balanced and servicable if unremarkable pale ale.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with a slightly tanned head and perfect lacings. Quite bitter with hoppy aromas of resin a hint of plant sap. Has a fresh sourness too. Not my favourite hopsprofile.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On-tap at PP C’Bad. Pours an orangish amber color with a thin white head, some lace. Smells perfectly balanced between the hops and malts. Taste is awesome, hoppy but not quite an IPA, nice and bitter. Plenty of earthy, sweet malts on the finish to back up all the hops. It’s like SNPA but with more character and depth. Medium body, good active carbonation. Awesome beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
tap, Carlsbad, dunno why i picked this up, but it is alright--lemon, melon, pine, caramel, with the citrus/hops popping out more, but with this soapy quality; mild, overall, not in style; good to drink, but nothing to get excited; then again, with a name like Palapa, i was hoping for an easier to swallow, and exotic, ale, while it is to me a bit big and hard.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tap @ PP Carlsbad. Poured a clear deep orange color with an off-white head. The aroma is of malt and orange scented hops. The flavor was of caramel and mild hops. Big growing bitterness on the finish. The grew to a moderate-big bitterness that tasted like citrus rind. Light to meidum bodied.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Pizza Port. Orange amber with a fizzy white head. Citrus, pine, and malty aroma and taste with a clean finish. Not bad.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Carlsbad location. Pours a mostly transparent, ruddy golden color with a hefty finger of creamy white head. Some subtle caramels and graham cracker malts are balanced in the nose nicely by some fresh cascade hops. Light bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel. Light and refreshing on the palate with a cleansing hop freshness. Great balance between bready malt and citrusy grapefruit hops on the palate. Alright, I admit it; I drank an entire growler of this while tailgating before a pre-season Chargers game. It was the perfect choice for that event; fresh, clean, flavorful, and excessively drinkable, even under the hot, scorching sun. Excellent APA.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JAN 24, 2008 Had a glass from a friend’s pitcher down at the Port. Small, weak vanilla head that barely lasts, and a weird funky aroma that is not all that pleasant...hops mixed with citrus cleaning fluid. The flavor is not even worth noting here, there is nothing exciting in this brew. Crisp finish, but not well balanced. Giver me a Poorman’s IPA now!!!

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Light orange color. A light skunky aroma. Cascade hops for aroma, Some bitterness, a little dry. Very light body so it’s easy to drink, but there are many other tastier beers.
