Draft in Carlsbad. A copper colored beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma has strong notes of spicy hops, lending it notes of grapefruit. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops, lending it notes of spices, hay, and some grapefruit, leading to a rather bitter finish.

A: The pour is a dark golden/light amber color with medium white head. S: The nose starts off with bready malts and earthy, floral hops. And that’s also just about where it stops. Pretty light aroma, overall. T: A lot of similarities to the nose as I take the first sip. A moderate bitterness with an earthy hoppiness. The malts are bready and slightly sweet, but still not a very powerful flavor. M: The body is medium, even for what is a pretty light beer, with a moderate level of carbonation. D: Fairly light and simple, but definitely easy to drink. Not something I’d necessarily come back to, though.

"a good pale...fresh, aromatic and bitter...nothing spectacular, but it does everything a classic pale ale should. i’d enjoy a pint any day. maybe a little hoppier than average?"

DuffMan (8794) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 25, 2009
On tap @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Clear, deep orange amber. Low aroma of toffee and citrus. Soft malts take a backseat to the very bitter grapefruit rind hops. In every way an IPA except for the ABV. Very good!
