Ungstrup (29332) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - JUL 7, 2009
Draft in Carlsbad. A copper colored beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma has strong notes of spicy hops, lending it notes of grapefruit. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops, lending it notes of spices, hay, and some grapefruit, leading to a rather bitter finish.

A: The pour is a dark golden/light amber color with medium white head. S: The nose starts off with bready malts and earthy, floral hops. And that’s also just about where it stops. Pretty light aroma, overall. T: A lot of similarities to the nose as I take the first sip. A moderate bitterness with an earthy hoppiness. The malts are bready and slightly sweet, but still not a very powerful flavor. M: The body is medium, even for what is a pretty light beer, with a moderate level of carbonation. D: Fairly light and simple, but definitely easy to drink. Not something I’d necessarily come back to, though.

On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours with a clear, deep golden body with a large white head with both good retention and lace. Aromas are grainy, earthy, and spicy hops with a light hint of caramel. Flavors are grainy and bitter with orange and light fruit. Kind of bland next to Lil Guy XPA.

DuffMan (6745) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 25, 2009
On tap @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Clear, deep orange amber. Low aroma of toffee and citrus. Soft malts take a backseat to the very bitter grapefruit rind hops. In every way an IPA except for the ABV. Very good!

On tap at Pizza Port. Orange amber with a fizzy white head. Citrus, pine, and malty aroma and taste with a clean finish. Not bad.

BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - APR 4, 2006
Draught at Pizza Port Carlsbad
Pellucid amber color with no head or lacing. Nose is ripe and sweet with melon, oranges, kiwi that’s all an impersonation of the hop nose. The flavor is very citric like the ESB and comes across and delicious grapefruit juice. Earthy dry finish and a pleasant finish. This is nice. Perhaps a bit too dry-hopped comparted to the sweetness, but I like it as a pale ale. San Diego Pale Ale, ha.

Draft with Linh at Pizza Port. Pours a clear amber body with thin white lacing. Aroma is slight hops. Mouthfeel is light and thin with mild hop notes.
