3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft on tap at Haymarket’s Pizza Port Event (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice darker blackish brown hue, near opaque with a frothy light brown head atop, touch of lacing and a brownish bottom. Aromas are cocoa and earthy malts, pretzels, roast and toast moving into some molasses. Sweeter edged, a touch of floral hops. Initial is sweeter edged, toast and molasses up front into a touch of roast, earth caramel, toffee, and some faint roast. A touch of dark malts, earthy peanuts, soil. Finish is sweet, a touch sour almost or tart. Strange really earthy molasses. Touch of bitter hops. Interesting, but not really my thing. So much earth and molasses, it’s a solid Brown Porter but not really my style in that regards. A little overdone.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark mahogany, lots of amber, shiny, nice medium mocha head, good retention and lace... Light roasted chocolate, oatmeal notes, super solid... Taste has a touch to much alcohol, some bitter chocolate but loses the nice roastiness, not that successful, disappointed... Light feel, almost watery but easy to drink

On tap at PP San Clemente. It pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is malty with dark chocolate and roasted coffee. The flavor is lively with coffee, berries, and a bit of caramel sweetness. Good roasted finish. One of my favorite PP beers.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: The pour is almost black with a thin tan/mocha colored head.
S: Starts off with a solid roasted character on the nose with plenty of chocolate (though more of a cocoa powder thing going on). A mild coffee aroma and a nice earthy hoppiness.
T: The flavor is similarly pleasing with lots of roasted malts and dark chocolate, both of which provide some bitterness to the beer. The coffee is minimal and there’s a bit of a sweet caramel or toffee thing.
M: Medium in body with a moderate level of carbonation to go with it.
D: I liked this beer quite a lot. A lot easier to drink than InFamous (not surprising), but still a lot of flavor.
