Rastacouere (6131) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 4, 2005
Clearish deep brown hue mounted by a light brown head. Rather straightforward coffee/chocolate roasted malts nose. Heavily malty, heavily hoppy(dead leaves, flowers), but not necessarily the tastiest components which makes me think that from anyone else, this would be considered a middle of the pack porter. There is simply not much to say about any fruitiness or flavour evolution, though I must recognize the velvety character of the medium body.

whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 3, 2005
GABF 2005. Translucent dark brown body with a few visible particles and a filmy tan head. Aroma of good coffee, cocoa nibs and a touch of raisin. Bitter coffee flavor with significant hops and firm bitterness. Nice blend of characters. Distinct and good porter.

NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 3, 2005
Huge roastiness with mild coffee notes. Very light brown with a lazy head. Hoppy with a lot of malt profile and little true porter characteristics. Very unlike the style to my palate.

BeerLimey (2154) - California, USA - NOV 4, 2004
Dense opaque, dark ruby, brown appearance, thick head (nitro?). Caramel/toffee, roasted malt aroma. Dry hazelnut, heavily roasted palate, dryish cocoa and coffee flavors, fairly bitter bite in the finish.

(Nitro Draft: Pizza Port in San Clemente, CA) The flavor is dominated by roasted malts; It’s moderately bitter with a mild sweetness fighting to balance out the dry roastiness, with only marginal success; Mild alcohol can be detected; Full bodied, dry, very creamy and smooth on the palate; The nose is dry and roasty, but only mildly aromatic; Jet black color, but ruddy at the very edges; Light tan head is creamy and dense, almost dense enough to write in; Excellent retention and lots of thick, dense lacing, and clumps of it in some spots

on draft: dark brown, nice malty/roasty nose. Flavor is roasted chocolate. Smooth & easy drinking.

unclebleen (620) - California, USA - MAR 5, 2004
Pours a dark burnt brown color. Medium off-white head with nice lacing. Aroma is a wonderful malt sweetness, mixed with coffee and chocolate. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, some alcohol. Hops actually peeked aroudn the corner of the malty sweetness. Body is silky smooth and very pleasant. An excellent porter,

Deep dark brown pour with smallish tan head. Malty from beginning to end. I've got to hand it to Kirk again, this is a fantastic beer.
