austinpowers (2828), New York, New York, USA Dec 31, 2003 I'm now working my way through my ten beer sampler here at Pizza Port (San Clemente) and am enjoying just about every one of them. This Pier Rat Porter is a standout beer for The Port - it's mega malty and a bit sweet. Not dry like an Irish Stout. Nice beige head. What's not to love! Eyedrinkale (3115), Beer Town, New York, USA Feb 26, 2004 Deep dark brown pour with smallish tan head. Malty from beginning to end. I've got to hand it to Kirk again, this is a fantastic beer. jimbowood (751), Athens, Georgia, USA Dec 29, 2005 On tap @ Solana Beach location. Is this a porter or a stout. Either way, a very drinkable, well balanced beer. Looks nice in the glass too. unclebleen (620), California, USA Mar 5, 2004 Pours a dark burnt brown color. Medium off-white head with nice lacing. Aroma is a wonderful malt sweetness, mixed with coffee and chocolate. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, some alcohol. Hops actually peeked aroudn the corner of the malty sweetness. Body is silky smooth and very pleasant. An excellent porter, BeerLimey (1875), California, USA Nov 4, 2004 Dense opaque, dark ruby, brown appearance, thick head (nitro?). Caramel/toffee, roasted malt aroma. Dry hazelnut, heavily roasted palate, dryish cocoa and coffee flavors, fairly bitter bite in the finish.
