Tasted as "Poor Vato" on a nitro tap. Awesome orange cream soda looks with massive guinessesque nitro head
Aroma is huge melon and citrus hop
Flavor is more of the same. Some initial sweetness with nice bitter bite on finish. Silky mouthfeel.

On tap at beachwood title Poor Vato. P: Just like a nitro stout this pours crazy with all the foam and such. A golden amber color with a thin white head (the foam had to settle though). S: Grapefruit, pine, grass, mango and orange. T: Melons, peaches, pineapples, mango, and grapefruit, light to medium bitterness. M: Very creamy. O: this is great although I still have to actually have regular poorsman I hope to actually find both together so I can compare.

Pint from nitro tap at the brewpub. What a weird concept. Iím not sure that an IIPA necessarily benefits from nitrogen, but it is definitely different and this was still a damn good beer. After a minute for the cascading to settle in my glass, Iím left with a burnt orange-boded beer with a perfectly symmetrical off white head. The hops are powerful, crisp and clear in the nose. Mainly grapefruit with assorted herbs. I canít get over the creamy palate, my mind isnít used to processing this mouthfeel with the extreme hoppiness. The grapefruity bite lingers with a long, dry finish. This is a seriously resinous beer, as well. Iíd definitely drink this again.

Draft at brewpub. †Pours golden with thick white head. †Nice floral aroma. †Huge resin taste. † Bought growler and easy drinking by the pool. †Drinking the next day, huge hop aroma and taste. Great beer.
Also had this beer on nitro, called PP Poor Vato on Nitro. Awesome. †Cask mouthfeel is unreal. Rivals Hop Suey. †PP knows how to make IPAís. †

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a cloudy golden orange color with a white head. The nose is quite resinous with lots and lots of pine. A strong citrus peel and grapefruit. Just a touch of caramel sweetness. The flavor is a bit sweet, but there is so much pine. The nitro gives it a light water note, but the intense pine and grapefruit provide a nice flavor.

A: The pour is a hazy goldenrod color with a fluffy white head.
S: Amazing citrus and tropical fruit notes. There is a ton of mango, pineapple, grapefruit, and orange, along with a mild pine aroma. This is very reminiscent to some of the other great west coast IPAs.
T: Pretty much what you would expect from this beer considering the nose. A very fruity DIPA with quite a bit of sweetness, but at the same time, a very refreshing bitterness to it on the finish.
M: The body is medium to full and thereís a fairly high level of carbonation.
D: The beer doesnít taste or smell overly boozy, but you can definitely get a gauge for its strength after enjoying a couple pours. Still, a delicious beer and one that I would have again.

On tap at the brewery in Carlsbad. Pours a copper color with a medium white head. The aroma is huge dank weed, loads of fruit. The flavor is damn good; no heat, clean, huge balance, super dank, lingering bitterness, caramel, light oranges. Damn good.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2013 Normal Draft, perfect pale orange. Big pine, and fruity hops. Tons of bitter fruit flavor. Bitter and dry. Everything you want in a west coast IPA
on nitro, cream gold pour and typical nitro cream head. Fresh citrus an fruit hop aroma, with some strong bitterness in the background. Thick and smooth body, very clean and easy to drink with some finishing buttering hops. Iíve never had an IPA on nitro before and Iím quite impressed

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On nitro at Pizza Port Solana Beach. Creamy nitro head. Big clingy bubbles and heavy carbonation. Nose is mild butter (not diacetyl) with sugar and sweet yellow fruits with sharp durian, jackfruit, and cantaloupe. Taste is a bit mealy apple, sweet cantaloupe, bitter Asian melon skins. Huge sheets of nitro lace remain. Pretty intense. Longer bitter aftertaste. Alcohol becomes evident. Palate is powdery and super nut skin bitter.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap at PP Carlsbad. Pint pours a semi-clear golden color with minimal white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma has one of the best uses of danky hops that Iíve ever smelled. Itís so balanced with the other hop presence and some citrus notes that it really works well. I love a dank hopped beer but feel it can be a little much sometimes. Talk about a way to balance that all out. Taste is pineapple, citrus, kumquat, solid hop presence and just the right amount of malt to know it is there but not detract. Overall, this was an outstanding DIPA. Probably not giving it as much credit as it is due with the current influx of DIPAs. This batch really did seem to be the best Iíve had from memory.
