On nitro at Pizza Port Solana Beach. Creamy nitro head. Big clingy bubbles and heavy carbonation. Nose is mild butter (not diacetyl) with sugar and sweet yellow fruits with sharp durian, jackfruit, and cantaloupe. Taste is a bit mealy apple, sweet cantaloupe, bitter Asian melon skins. Huge sheets of nitro lace remain. Pretty intense. Longer bitter aftertaste. Alcohol becomes evident. Palate is powdery and super nut skin bitter.

Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Poured clear yellow with excellent sheety lacing. Dank pellet hops in the nose. Taste is bitter, earthy hops, squashy, a bit spicy, very bitter. Very dry palate.

On tap at PP Carlsbad. Pint pours a semi-clear golden color with minimal white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma has one of the best uses of danky hops that Iíve ever smelled. Itís so balanced with the other hop presence and some citrus notes that it really works well. I love a dank hopped beer but feel it can be a little much sometimes. Talk about a way to balance that all out. Taste is pineapple, citrus, kumquat, solid hop presence and just the right amount of malt to know it is there but not detract. Overall, this was an outstanding DIPA. Probably not giving it as much credit as it is due with the current influx of DIPAs. This batch really did seem to be the best Iíve had from memory.

On nitro @ Ocean Beach: Created a creamy Guinness like head with a sparking golden liquid that filled the majority of my 9 oz glass. Aroma is full of hops that suggest aromas of pine and citrus. The flavor is buttery with a bitter bite of hops that have become livelier because of the low carbonation. The finish is strange and has a perfume or metallic aftertaste that takes a few sips before I got used to it. Thanks Nate for the round.

Golden amber pour, with a thick creamy off-white head. I am pretty sure this must have been on nitro. Tropical fruit, caramel malt, moderately bitter, sweetness, and slightly boozy. Creamy nitro mouthfeel. If you like DIPA on the sweet side, but I am not a big fan of this.

Pours a clear golden amber with fluffy white head. Juicy hops, floral, orange peel, tropical fruit, caramel malt, and toasted bread. This one is lighter, cleaner, and fruiter then hop suey, while hop suey is quite a bit sweeter.

Freshie batch on tap @ PP Carlsbad. Golden, glowing yellow in the glass with a slick of white foam. Aroma is dank, resinous pine, tropical fruit, bitter hops, sweet honey, and a bready malt backbone. Taste is a swirl of resinous hops, pine, citrus/fruit, honey, and a relatively light and bready malt backbone with some lingering alcohol and bitterness. Mouthfeel is clean and sharp. Bad ass hoppy beer.

Draft @ FFF XV. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The nose is all about the hops: dank, floral, tropical fruit throughout. Only slight hints of caramel malts. The flavor had a caramel malt base. Hops flavors were tropical fruits, citrus, pine with a nice level of bitterness. This was not quite as big and bold as many other DIPAs. It was however, extremely drinkable and very tasty.
