4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
[At GABF 2004] A pitch black beer with a small ligth brown head. The aroma is sweet malty and slightly nutty. The flavor is sweet roasted with notes of chocolate and coffee. Great, but Iíd like more complexity in the aroma.

Pretty solid. Reminded me of Santaís Little Helper. Coffee and chocolate notes in a medium body. Just a little unbalanced. Pretty sweet without a lot of hop balance.

4.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Oil can black with an everlasting cream tan head. Major lacing. Aroma of must, raisen, dark chocolate, roasted beans and some ABV. The palate is creamy delicious. The body is well rounded and extremely smooth. One of the best Impyís Iíve had.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. This is an excellent Imperial Stout. Pitch black like an Imp should be, moderate brown head. Aroma/flavor is rich, sweet, and slight burnt. Flavors of prune, molasses, coffee and chocolate come to mind - especially chocolate. Full bodied with a sweet, lingering finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Pizza Port in carlsbad. Appearance is what youíd expect and the aroma is about the same, malty with a hint of chocolate and coffee aromas. One person said that the overall aroma isnít as pronouced as it should be, and I agree with that. The flavor is a bit lacking, not much but a little. Itís mostly a malty flavor. Itís not bad, but I feel that this could be a better beer if there was a little more intensity in the flavor. Overall a good beer, but could use a little more.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled from growler from TAR: Poured pitch black with a slight wisp of a head. Aroma is mostly of cherries, slightly sour milk. Cherries took over midway through. Full bodied mouthfeel. Taste is cherry, roasted malt, with a hint of coffee. Good.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
GABF 2004: Opaque blackness with a dense dark tan head. Aroma is roasty sweet and chocolatey, but didnít seem to be as pronounced as most imperialís aromas. Rich, roasty and sweet caramel malty flavor that is somewhat cloying and doesnít hide the alcohol as well as it could. Finishes with some dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. A nice imperial that could just use a little touching up.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draught at Pizza Port (Carlsbad), California.
Pitch black beer with a fine tan head. Sweet aroma with a nice roasted malt tone. Fruit also. Nice but rather mild. Full and heavy flavor. Dark roasted malt, chocolate and hops in the background. Some alcohol in the finish. An excellent stout enjoyed at a cool bar!
