Pours deep copper and red with a decent off white head. Nose caramel, spicy rye bread, citrus and hay. Taste is sweet with a great bitter backbone that comes through on the finish. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy, body is heavy and finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled at GABF 2012 with Andrew and Moreau. Pours a reddish, copper body with a nice sized off-white head and lots of lacing. Aroma is fruit and caramel malt. Mouthfeel is medium with flavors of fruit, sweet malt, light bitter hop and light bite.

Sample at GABF 10/13/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Copper-amber color with a medium off-white head and small patches of lace. Aroma of caramel malt and fruit. Medium to full body with flavors of overripe fruit, sweet malt and mild hops. The finish is sweet and malty. Slightly above average overall.

Reddish pour at GABF. Moslty white head. A mix of hops and caramel in the nose. Flavor is hoppy, but not overly hoppy. Caramel malt, light nutiness.

Tap at OB. Clear garnet with a tiny beige head due to the pour, looks fairly creamy though. Flavor is pretty fruity between the citrus hops and toffee notes. The toffee isn’t scorched, though, which usually makes me mad for this style. Lots of crystal malt in here, though. Also a bit of cotton candy sweetness. Finishes with bitterness at a 4 and earthy, alcohol masked well except for the light burn in my empty stomach. Medium full body with low carbonation that heavies the beer. I do like this batch better than the last. The aroma added a weird slightly unpleasant tang that the flavor didn’t have. 6-3-7-3-14--3.3

Draught Amber-brown beer with a small yellowish rim. Fine dry, aromatic hops, wafting in between some more plain malts. Immediately bitter, husks, walnut and dry spices’ taste (not flavour). In the finish, the bitterness recedes in front of coloured malts. Dry, medium bodied. Medal winner. I understand why.

Growler fill from OB location. Huge beer; alot of caramal malts on the nose, deep red. Huge flavor of sweet malts and fruity hops. Thick full body that coats my tongue. Very good beer, reminds me of Ballast Point Tongue Buckler.

Reddish brown pour with an off white head. Aroma is pure malts and caramel. Taste is very malty with a sticky caramel taste thrown in. Hoppy finish. Just something not quite right on this.
