3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A: The pour is a surprisingly cloudy copper color with a thin layer of off-white head.
S: A lackluster nose is obvious right off the bat. Very minimal hop aroma to the beer and what is there is sort of sweet with a little bit of orange peel, grass, and floral notes. Overall, though, this is mostly bread.
T: Second verse, same as the first. Bready malts with a decent enough bitterness, but no real hop flavor. Again, some citrus peel and maybe a touch of grapefruit and pine.
M: The body is medium with a fairly lively carbonation to it.
D: A true disappointment, especially for a Pizza Port IPA. I can’t recommend this one.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap at Pizza Port SC. Poured a clear orange/gold with a thin, off-white head, that has little retention but good sheety to webby lacing. Nose is really non-existant for wet hop IPA- some English malt and slight harsh graininess. Body is malty, chewy, loaded with bitter orange peel but not sweet enough or caramel loaded to be an IPA- really exactly what the description is: strong pale ale. Profile is a little thin with soft bitterness and a fairly dry palate. Lots of English malts (almost astringent) rather than full caramel malts.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at San Clemente on 12/3/06: Pours a clear orange bronze with a well-lacing white head. Aroma has some fresh citrusy piny hops and lightly toasty pale malt. Body starts with a light malty sweetness, a touch of toasty caramel grain and some earthy bittering and grapefruity hoppy flavor. Finishes drier and bittersweet. A decent IPA.
