On tap 4 oz. sampler at Pizza Port in San Clemente, CA. Clear, amber-copper with white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of pine, grapefruit and caramel. Taste of pine, caramel and grapefruit. Medium/full body and medium carbonation. A very nice example of a straightforward double IPA. Nothing complex. Just clean hops and malt in a nice balance. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear golden color with white head. Pine sap, grainy pale malt aromas. medium body. Rich, dry cracker malt flavors with some pine, grapefruit hoppy bitterness--mostly bitter

Sweet maple & caramel aroma, very malty aroma. Hop flavor and aroma is overpowered by the deep malt character. Head retention, body, mouthfeel and color are great for this DIPA style but overall not a great DIPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at GABF 2011. Pours a mostly clear amber color with a medium white head. The aroma is rich pine and fruity notes. The flavor is very good; bitter, very strong, pine, some lighter tropical fruit. Very smooth. Nice.

Pour was hazy orange with stark white head, aroma brought notes of big sticky grapefruit, orange, lemon, some pine and grass as well, touch of biscuit but not much. Taste was mouth blasting hops with lots of pine, grass, grapefruit and orange peel, some slight caramel finishing with another wave of pine and bitterness.

Tap. Dark yellow, not even gold. Strong carbonation maintains a strong soft white foam and lace. Strong hop nose with melon and nectarine/tangerine notes. Flavor is soapy, city’s and very woody. Body is very light and airy but still touches all parts of the palate.

A: The beer pours amber in color with a fluffy white head and some sticky lacing. S: A touch on the sweet side, but a lot of nice fruit notes. Big pineapple, grapefruit, and tangerine. Intense pine aromas on toward the back end. The rest of the scent is comprised of caramel malts. T: More of the same on the palate. Big time fruitiness with lots of grapefruit and tangerine, though the pineapple presence is not quite as pronounced. Sweet caramel malt on the middle with plenty of pine. M: Medium to full in body with a medium carbonation. O: A very well done double IPA. I always enjoy this one.

On tap at PP San Clemente. It pours orange with an off white head. The aroma is piney with tropical tones. A little grapefruit. This smells fresh. The flavor is dryer and grainier than expected. There’s some potent piney bitterness and some caramel malt and doughiness in the finish. A surprisingly malty IIPA.

RBESG 2010, draught at Brasserie 4:20
Cloudy amber color; big creamy head. Aroma of fruity hops and creamy malts, mild piney resins, light sweat. Bold body; sweet caramel and toffee flavor, lightly buttery and creamy, with very strong hopping, a lot of mellow resins, limited fruitniess. Bold and mouthfilling, not remarkably fresh.
