4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewpub in San Clemente. Pours a black body with a thick, dark chocolate brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a dark, runny lacing. Silky aroma of rich chocolate and mild roasts. Some molasses, vanilla, dark fruits, licorice, and light floral hops. Very delicate smelling. Flavor is also delicate, but pretty robust at the same time. Lots of rich malts with bittersweet chocolate and light roasts. Some citrusy hops and dark fruits as well as vanilla and molasses. Finishes sweet and dry with a long lingering flavor. Palate is silky and delicate in a medium body. Overall, a big flavored, but obviously well handled beer. Nice balance and very tasty.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Sample from tap at San Clemente. Thick foamy head reminiscent of nitro, but it was served on CO2. Black color. Medium to thick body. Chocolatey, malty, little to no roastiness. Light sweetness, but finishes dry. Very easy to drink. Alcohol very well hidden. Wow. Excellent! Get a growler while you can!

Full bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation, and spicy-dry finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness.

Draught, Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Super dark black color with dark tan foam. Aroma showcases burnt dark fruit, molasses, chocolate. Flavor is tremendously big, complex, with a lot of malt. Char, coffee, chocolate, along with a big dose of piney, resinous hops. This just worked.

Crushed with Jakebra at BSAF. Coffee and chocolate is such a nice combination, especially when itís then combined with beer. Both are on display in this one. Not incredible, but definitely excellent.
