Draught at Ørsted Ølbar. Black - offwhite head. Coffee. Burned. Nice medium hoppy. Nice light fruity. Grassy. Burned malts. Light sweetness. Chocolate. Medium malty. Medium body. Light thin/watery finish. High drinkability.

Sampled @ GABF! Pretty solid brew here with a dark brown pour producing a creamy khaki head. Lots of cocoa, roasted nuts, and dark malt. Caramel there as well. Would love to sample again when my palate isn’t as wrecked.

UPDATED: SEP 28, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. Dark brown (almost black) color with a medium foamy beige head that recedes to an outer ring steadily. Roasty malt aroma with coffee notes. Medium body with a malty and nutty flavor with some coffee in the background. The finish is roasted malt up front with a slight hops aftertaste. Above average overall.

On tap, PP SC. My first couple sips, the beer was altogether too cold to shine. Upon warming slightly, a beautiful aroma of baker’s chocolate, light toasted brown bread and roasted nuts emerged. Flavor lands firmly on the palate with chocolate malt, excellently balanced with enough hop bitterness. Touch of vanilla emerges in a finish bursting with semisweet chocolate and toasted malt.

Pours dark brown with a medium tan head and good lace. Smells smokey and roasty. Dark malts and not much sweetness, a little smoked meat as well. Tastes a bit watery with dark, bitter roasted malts and some dirt, that’s about it. Thin, watery body and good carbonation.

On tap from Solana location. Huge coffee aroma. Flavor had cream and mocha mixed with espresso like aftertaste. My ’light beer’ drinking friends could not stand it, so there was nearly a pitcher for me. Had I not been full from incredible pizza I would have drank the whole pitcher.

On cask with espresso beans at pizza port san clemente. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is lots of roast coffee and caramel. Flavor is more strong coffee with a strong hop bitterness and a hint of chocolate. Palate is silky with pretty much no carbonation.

On tap at Downtown Johnny Brown’s. Pours black with a dense off-white head. This beer is rich and ripe and resinous. Sweet in flavor with a strong malt roasted and coffee flavor. The high level of fruitines is actually able to mask the big coffee taste. Incredible.

From an old rating note - on tap at the San Clemente Pizza Port. Deep brown pour with tan head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malts. Heavily hopped. Don’t have much else other than a score.
