Big and black from the tap to the glass with a small tan head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, light toffee and dried pine needles. Taste is more bitter than sweet. Dare I say slightly off balanced. Not by much though. Mouthfeel is crisp cold and soften and smoothed out a bit as it warms, body is medium and the finish is long. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

24/05/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Nera con riflessi rubino-violacei, schiuma frizzante color beige, mediamente persistente. Aroma abbastanza complesso, di liquirizia, spezie, caffè e cioccolato. In bocca intenso aroma di caffè, cioccolato e liquirizia, con note metalliche e appena affumicate nel finale. Non molto strutturata, corpo medio, molto carbonata. Più simile a una sweet stout che a una classica porter. Certamente buona, ma non eccezionale come mi era stata presentata.

On draft at O’Brien’s. Appearance is a thick dense brown hue, head is cocoa velvet smoothness, huge thick pillowy lacing on the glass, AMAZING. Smell is mild malt aromas (chocolate & coffee) that are surprisingly muted, slight bitter and sour milk notes. Taste is mildly bitter coffee malts, nice cocoa sweetness, bittering hops midway, finishes smooth and slightly sour. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, creamy smooth texture a la Guinness, mild-moderate carbonation, WONDERFUL. The appearance and texture are superb, very smooth and easy-drinking w/no alcohol presence, flavor is lacking boldness but is solid for the style.

Dark brown with little head. Nose shows this one to have a great deal of hops residing in it. Medium light body with a flavor that reminds me a little of Stones 6th Anniversary brew. Nice drinker.

On tap from Solana location. Huge coffee aroma. Flavor had cream and mocha mixed with espresso like aftertaste. My ’light beer’ drinking friends could not stand it, so there was nearly a pitcher for me. Had I not been full from incredible pizza I would have drank the whole pitcher.

Pours a dark burnt brown color. Medium off-white head with nice lacing. Aroma is a wonderful malt sweetness, mixed with coffee and chocolate. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, some alcohol. Hops actually peeked aroudn the corner of the malty sweetness. Body is silky smooth and very pleasant. An excellent porter,

Poured from a growler is has a dark brown color. The nose has nuts, mollasses. Taste has vanilla, cocoa and a roasted flavor. Smooth finish.

On cask with espresso beans at pizza port san clemente. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma is lots of roast coffee and caramel. Flavor is more strong coffee with a strong hop bitterness and a hint of chocolate. Palate is silky with pretty much no carbonation.

Nice roasted, smokey malt flavors in this one. The finish is slightly dry and bitter from the hops. Black with a nice head and smooth from the nitrogen pour. A very tasty brew.

Tap @ brewery. Dark, ruby/walnut body with a light tan head. Webby lace with splotches. Yeast/bread on the aroma, dark malts, caramel, coffee, chocolate. Mouth is medium with tons of super-soft carbonation (like a nitro), lightly dry. Flavor is plastic, candy, sugar, dust, lightly roasty, touch sour dough in the finish, touch bitter, coffee, light alcohol. Interesting amalgamation of flavors, but I drank it and even enjoyed it. Very unique. Great mouth.
