Commercial Description:
Is it really safe to paddle out in our waters? It’s impossible to know for sure. What we do know is that this is an incredibly distinctive and bold American red ale that attacks your taste buds with lethal amounts of hops, which are balanced by a boat load of Crystal malt. If none of this fazes you, then maybe swimming in the shark filled waters is exactly where you belong. We’ll see you in the lineup!

thanks nhorween. i’m surprised i’ve never had it. it was quite terrific. poured murky ugly brown with a half inch of solid thick head. nick probably shouldn’t have poured out the yeast, but that’s fine. pretty much reminded me of a pretty hoppy barleywine. i’d call it balanced. plenty of malts and caramel, certainly. i guess i dont have any specifics otherwise. good stuff, alcohol well hidden

22oz bottle. Semi-opaque red pour with a thin off-white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Some hop presence, but smells like it might be a hoppy beer that’s past its prime. Definitely more hops in the flavor, confirming that this mutha is indeed fresh. Caramelly malt balance and a bitter finish.

When I first opened the bottle there was little to no fizz, so I was concerned it was flat. Upon pouring nothing really formed in my glass but a small foam ring around the glass. Body is more brown than red, and pretty cloudy. Very hoppy aroma at pouring, but when taking in the bouquet in the glass the malt does come out. Flavor is not very balanced in the least, but then again there was a warning on the label that this had a ton of hops in it.. As it warms up it does give a sweetish trend going down, but the palate reverts to hops once you’ve swallowed. All in all, I wish it had carbonation in it, even a little. May have to try another bottle sometime to see if this one was bad.

22oz "Double" Red Ale bottle. Brought this one back from Seattle, been stashed in the closet for 6 months. Thick red-brown color. Mellow sweet amber malt aroma. The mouthfeel is full and almost creamy, with a solid hoppy bitter edge. Solid big ABV amber malt collides with a sandy fresh bitterness. I couldn’t ask for a much better American Imperial Amber. Good Stuff.

Very little head or lacing on this dark red cloudy beer. Strong hop presence in both the aroma and the taste. Sweet flavor, astringent finish. Mouthfeel was pretty thin for a big beer.

Bottle. Very cloudy reddish brown colour with a beige head. Sweet, lots of caramel, lots of hops, star fruit, passion fruit, grape, tosted malt, a bit of alcohol. Bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel.

The beer has a cloudy ruby color with a thin, beige head. Pleasant aroma of hops with earthy malt and caramel. Good flavor of hops, caramel and earthy malt. The body is light while the texture is creamy and the carbonation is moderate. Not one of the best or original offerings from Pizza Port, but it’s still worth a try.
