Commercial Description:
Is it really safe to paddle out in our waters? It’s impossible to know for sure. What we do know is that this is an incredibly distinctive and bold American red ale that attacks your taste buds with lethal amounts of hops, which are balanced by a boat load of Crystal malt. If none of this fazes you, then maybe swimming in the shark filled waters is exactly where you belong. We’ll see you in the lineup!

(Bottle labeled "Shark Attack Double Red Ale" from summer 08) So... this beer actually makes a pretty decent barely wine... of course I would like to try one fresh, however, this is not bad. Pours a murky brown with basically no head except a minimal beige froth. Sweet sugary toasted malt/barley aroma, caramel and faded oxidized grapefruit and resiny hops. Sugary toasted barley first taste, like candied near burnt barley, perfectly bitter, toffee, oxidized citrus hops add a nice complex character. Medium bodied with a sugary mouthful and dull sparse large carbonation.

(Bottled, 0.66l, 9.0% ABV) Very hazy red with a medium, slightly tanned head. Fruity and caramely-malty aroma with slight alcohol warmth and hints of white cheese. Quite strongly hoppy (but slightly stingy), sweetish flavor with toffee-caramely maltiness, hints of alcohol, and some exotic fruitiness. Medium-bodied, quite smooth-carbonated palate. Good, but not quite outstanding.

(Bottle, Double Red Ale -- shared with sayravai and T. J. Uominen, thanks -- at Pikkulintu on 2009-01-27) Red and hazy. Small white head. Hops and malts in nose. Full bodied and dryish palate with medium carbonation. Malts, lot of hops, saltiness, salty liquorice, bitterness and light sweetness in taste. Bitter and malty aftertaste.

Bomber - Poured nice red tone color, nice and clear with a decent head not very lacy. Strong malty and hop aroma. Tastes like it smells and has a good amount of bitterness and a warming alcohol mouthfeel.

Bomber. Poured hazy medium brown without much head sticking around. The aroma picked up warm caramel and fruity notes with aggressive floral and earthy hoppage around.. strong overall. The flavor was more of the same with even more assertive bitterness that lasted well through the long finish (floral and grassy for the most part with some citrus on the back).. grainy caramel sugars formed the base.. finished spicy and strong. Medium-plus bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. a tad too heavy on the bitterness and warmth for my liking.. otherwise a solid brew.

Caramel, a good sized amount of hop bitterness and some barleywine elements make this an enjoyable brew.

Bottle 75 cl. Average off-white creamy head that mostly diminished. Cloudy amber color. Aroma of floral, grapefruit, caramel, toasted malt. Quite full bodied with an average carbonation and mild dry alcohol texture. Moderate bitter and sweet flavor. Lingering bitter thick finish.

Crushed with Jakebra and co. Excellent strong ale. Just badass. That’s all I got.
