Fin (3376), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Aug 16, 2009 Bottle that I think I got from Phil L’s online beer shop (momentarily forgotten name) this was in a double box order shared with Craig and consumed at a field at Cropredy Festival, Oxon 14-08-09 Pours reddish with a beige head. Taste is hoppy, really quite bitter, long bitter finish, burnt sugar, bit too sweet at times, but otherwise nice stuff. Fruity, slight ethanol, plenty of spice and some good hops. Huge caramel and toffee. Dry bitter finish with an assertive boozy hit. Magicdave6 (5383), London, Greater London, England Aug 10, 2009 Bottle at the legend of chriso’s pre GBBF09 tasting. Alround rating: Massively sweet, loads of caramel off the caramalt, brown ale malts coming through too, grassy bitternes but toffee dominates. Im guessing this was fairly old. cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 7, 2009 On tap at the San Marcos brewery 07-10-09. Pours a nice amber, cream head. Amazing hop aroma almost stings the nostrils. Going back in, you can pick up subtle molasses and brown sugar. Fortunately, the balance is incredible as you move it to your mouth. Awesome sweetness up front with a very dry bitter hops finish. Good mouthfeel and it seems very drinkable. Amazing brew. SilkTork (4151), Rochester, Kent, England Aug 6, 2009 Chriso Shindig Aug 2009. Too hoppy. Too sweet. Too ugly. Undrinkable. twistedviews (67), California, USA Aug 5, 2009 pretty alright red ale, strong as hell, but good. really thick and malty with high amount of hops ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2009 Pours a deep hazy copper with thick tan head, plenty of cake residue. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, resiny pine hops, some citrus and fruit. Similar taste, great balance of the hops/malt/fruit. Excellent strong ale. Cheers! curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2009 Dark hazy brown/red with a frothy tan head that leaves lace. Aroma is a combination of pine, alcohol, honey, cherry, excellent. Taste is very rich with pine, molasses, plum and roast. Very well balanced with sweet and heavy hops. Finishes with a dry bitter crisp. Perfectly balanced.
