stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA May 4, 2008 zBottle sampled with Mad indian. Pours deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, but mostly floral and pine. The flavor is smooth, caramel malts, well hidden alcohol, and a beautiful dose of bitter hops in the finish. Good body, great brew. OldMrCrow (1179), Seattle, Washington, USA May 3, 2008 Q:What would happen if standout Port Brewing brewed a Lagunitas-style ASA?
A: It would be just a shade better than your average Lagunitas ASA, but nothing better than that. Tons of hops atop a metric assload of crystal malt is only so interesting even in the best of cases....
MadIndian (987), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA May 3, 2008 Gift from stegoaurus. I loved this !!! Clear dark amber pour with little head. Caramel malt and hop aromas which make the mouth water. Sweet taste wild a mild bitter hop finish all tied up in a perfect blend. Well done. bp (451), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 3, 2008 Updated: May 4, 2008Bottle: Pours a dark, hazy orangish-red with a thin white head, aroma is hoppy and somewhat sweet, malty flavor with some hops in the finish, very dry as well, pretty nice beer. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle... Lightly hazed orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The herbal, almost perfumey aroma is full of pine, resin, caramel, maple syrup and a mingling of several tropical fruits. Full-bodied and very chewy with medium carbonation. Huge malt backbone with tons of residual sweetness and gobs of caramel. However, the sugar ends up being only an afterthought as soon as the wonderful, heavy, tongue-numbing hop bitterness kicks in. Finishes sticky, very bitter and mildly tangy with a touch of caramel sweetness. Although I can immediately feel the effects of the relatively high ABV, it doesn’t rear its head in the mouth, throat or nose. Well done! tronraner (1905), Maryville, Tennessee, USA May 2, 2008 Bomber, thanks to wetherel. Pours red-orange with small beige head. The aroma is sweet tangerine, caramel, and some pine. The flavor has an initial strong hit of caramel and pine. Then comes a semi-sweet fruitiness and orangey hops. A fair amout of bitterness makes its way to the finish. Alcohol is detectable in the aftertaste, but the citrus and caramel flavors linger for quite some time and keep it under control. Pretty good stuff. kkearn (993), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 1, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours reddish-caramel color with a moderate sized tan head. Floral, citric hop aroma, with substantial caramel malt. Sweet caramel malt up front; soon joined by piney hops. Finishes with hop resin, spice, alcohol and some earthy notes. Very easy to drink for its ABV. Nice. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 30, 2008 22 oz. bottle - pours dark amber and mostly clear; bubbly tan head; aromas are sweet - caramel, toffee, fruit and some spice; malty texture and drinks pretty bitter; flavor is slightly off putting to me
