| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2008 Bottle... Lightly hazed orange ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The herbal, almost perfumey aroma is full of pine, resin, caramel, maple syrup and a mingling of several tropical fruits. Full-bodied and very chewy with medium carbonation. Huge malt backbone with tons of residual sweetness and gobs of caramel. However, the sugar ends up being only an afterthought as soon as the wonderful, heavy, tongue-numbing hop bitterness kicks in. Finishes sticky, very bitter and mildly tangy with a touch of caramel sweetness. Although I can immediately feel the effects of the relatively high ABV, it doesn’t rear its head in the mouth, throat or nose. Well done! tronraner (1912), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2008 Bomber, thanks to wetherel. Pours red-orange with small beige head. The aroma is sweet tangerine, caramel, and some pine. The flavor has an initial strong hit of caramel and pine. Then comes a semi-sweet fruitiness and orangey hops. A fair amout of bitterness makes its way to the finish. Alcohol is detectable in the aftertaste, but the citrus and caramel flavors linger for quite some time and keep it under control. Pretty good stuff. kkearn (999), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours reddish-caramel color with a moderate sized tan head. Floral, citric hop aroma, with substantial caramel malt. Sweet caramel malt up front; soon joined by piney hops. Finishes with hop resin, spice, alcohol and some earthy notes. Very easy to drink for its ABV. Nice. SuzyGreenberg (1324), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2008 22. Pours nearly black with a decent, if brief, creamy tan head. Little webby rings of lace. Thin rim left over. Nice sweet mango and peach nose. Creamy, medium body with very little carb. Sweet caramel, toast, nuts, pine, and bits of the aforementioned mango and peach...all giving way to a big resin wash that hangs around in a long, clingy, bitter finish. Dangerously close to being sessionable even at this boosted abv. I could see getting myself in bad trouble drinking this beer. brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA

I’m not sure why it’s filed under triple here, but whatever...this is a great beer. smooth, full, deep, a great winter warmer. very little carbonation, almost like water.
