Commercial Description:
Is it really safe to paddle out in our waters? It’s impossible to know for sure. What we do know is that this is an incredibly distinctive and bold American red ale that attacks your taste buds with lethal amounts of hops, which are balanced by a boat load of Crystal malt. If none of this fazes you, then maybe swimming in the shark filled waters is exactly where you belong. We’ll see you in the lineup!

Pours an off-white head with legs and a hazy deep amber-brown. Smells of caramel, malt, strawberry, floral. Tastes of resin, floral hops, brown sugar, biscuit. Fruit aspect from the hops. Bitter and hot finish.

At Chriso’s pre GBBF Shindig ’09. Hazy brown. Piney hop aroma. After that there was an overpowering mixture of sweetness and bitterness. Not so much like being attacked by a shark as having a bar of soap thrust down your throat.

Bottle. Nutmeg brown color with a slight reddish hue. Off white head that laces nicely. Big hop nose with lots of pine and citrus. Great big flavor and mouthfeel. Burnt sugar, grassy hops, and a pleasantly warming alcohol. Good malt balance with the hops. Not overly sweet and not too bitter. Just very flavorful. Very well done.

Bottle. Pours cloudy copper coloured with a beautiful off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, soap, pine, caramel and roasted malt. Fruity and bitter flavour with notes of caramel, resin, lemons, grapefruit and dried fruit. Great brew.

Nice strong beer. Pours a cloudy copper color, fluffy white head. Sweet aroma. The flavor is also fairly sweet malty but a good bit of hop in the finish. Also a good bit of alcohol in the finish, giving it a raw edge. I dig it.

65 cl bottle at my garage-tasting May 8th. As «Double Red Ale». Brown orange color, beige head. Aroma is sweet malty and hops. Flavor is sweet, hoppy, citrus. A bit raw on the hops, but a very nice beer.

22 oz. bottle. 9.0% ABV per the bottle. Pours a exuberant short lived head, over a clear reddish amber (SRM 20) body....nose of toffee, bit of resin, bit of citrus, some sensation of dried fruit (cherry, raisin)....taste is not as complex as the nose would suggest, starting with sweet malts, which are quickly over taken by heavy lingering hop bitterness....mouth feel is medium to heavy, carbonation made for a creamy sensation. This is reminiscent of a very young Barley wine and should therefore be somewhat unbalanced. I think this could use a bit of age to reach its true peak.
