beerchugger (285), Colorado, USA Jun 25, 2009 Pours a deep red color with a fully thick and dense off white head forming atop. Smells of strong citrus fruits, hops and a thin malty background are most prevalent. This beer tastes of caramel, booze, some toasted biscuits and maybe some cherry. Mouhfeel is rather medium bodied and the finish is delicately bitter. Very reminiscent of a barley wine. thehurt01 (200), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 20, 2009 a 22 oz bottle. The beer poured a dark amber body with a thick liight brown foam head. The smell is a citrus hops an the taste is the same, not to over powering though. good carbonation. scraff (1920), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jun 18, 2009 22 oz - Deeply hazed copper, thin off white creamy head. Juicy citric pineapple and caramelized guava nose warms to swirls of brown sugared melon and fig. Well meshed citric hop flavors ride a complex foundation of tropical fruits and toffee brittle. Hints of milk chocolate round this out in the finish. Full bodied with cask-like carbonation. Any additional carbonation here might have taken this up a notch or two. As is though, it still was a well crafted and enjoyable brew... beachbum25 (778), Powellville, Maryland, USA Jun 13, 2009 22 oz bomber-Secret Santa or Hellbilly-I have 2 so maybe both-Cloudy Amber color w/no head but some good lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Has a deep roasted malt flavor w/overtones of nuts, wheat, bread dough, dark fruit, & floral hops. More of a malt presence w/a hop backbone. An earthy, woodsy flavor to it. Kind of gamey & unrefined, but not in a bad way. Reminded me very much of a scotch ale w/the heavy malt flavor on the front end. Good brew, but that shouldn’t be a surprise from these folks! Thanks to both folks who sent them!! nickd717 (1276), Palo Alto, California, USA Jun 9, 2009 Tap at Toronado. Opaque dark reddish-brown with an off-white head. Aroma of citrus and pine, sweet malt, and slight tropical fruit notes. Flavor is loads of sweet caramel malt, wood, and a citrusy/pineappley/resinous hop finish. Smooth, fairly full palate. Great stuff! yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway May 31, 2009 Bottle, 22oz, as Shark Attack Double Red Ale. Thx to tarjei..It pours a slightly unclear, orange-brown body with a small, beige head. Sweet, malty nose with a good dash of citrusy, piney and resiny hops. The flavor is much the same, with a sharp resiny and citrusy hoppyness supported by a malty-sweet, beef-stock like background. Full-bodied. Lasting finish with resins and bitterness. A lovely beer, but maybe a bit too much. (090508) Sparky27 (1559), Phoenix, Arizona, USA May 18, 2009 Bomber. Pours murky dark amber with some chunky floaters and a half finger creamy beige head. The nose is over-ripe citrus and caramelized sugar. The taste is caramel malt, ripe citrus and some pine in the finish. Medium creamy mouthfeel. Decent stuff – the aroma sweetness scared me but the hops cut through it pretty well. BigBang (210), Indiana, USA May 16, 2009 Very pretty beer. Can’t tell how fresh this bottle is, but the hops are not very strong. Mostly a malt bomb, which is disappointing. Mouthfeel is very lush and kind of creamy/smooth. Interesting brew but not a fave.
