Commercial Description:
Is it really safe to paddle out in our waters? It’s impossible to know for sure. What we do know is that this is an incredibly distinctive and bold American red ale that attacks your taste buds with lethal amounts of hops, which are balanced by a boat load of Crystal malt. If none of this fazes you, then maybe swimming in the shark filled waters is exactly where you belong. We’ll see you in the lineup!

The floral burst on the nose of this IPA is quite outstanding. Chalk full of fruit it really comes of like a riesling on. Grapefruit and some lemon and a little blood orange. Pours Opaque yellow with a tinge orange. Medium body with balanced carbonation and a very crisp finish. Flavor is three fold..1) Fruit on the tip. 2) some malt, grapefruit and orange, pine with some spice. 3) Very crisp semi dry hop citrus finish. I might be in love..

The appearance of the beer was solid it was not quite red -a little darker- but it was close enough. Who really cares about appearance anyhow, you’re not going to pour the beer into a frame! The carbonation seemed to be average for red ale: meaning that it has a decent amount of carbonation. The smell was strong and bold but what else would you expect from port brewing. A bold combination of hops and a strong mask of sweet malts are apparent by smell. The taste remains true to the smell. It was at first a tad bit sweet, it quickly turned to the taste of the creative hop blend; the blend was quite bitter but had a nice floral pine flavor to it. The malt was as sweet as the smell gave away. It had a nice balance of the hop and malt: each seemed to have equal force. Overall it is creative strong bold red ale.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of roasted and caramel, moderate orange for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with background notes of date, cherry, wine and brown sugar. Head is small, wispy, off-white with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy dark copper. Flavor starts moderately sweet and the long finish is lightly sweet and moderately to heavily bitter. Palate is on the full side of medium, oily and has a lively carbonation. Deep, rich and complex aromas and so well balanced, This American Strong Ale is well deserving of it’s high percentile score.

It pured a hazy brown with reddish tones, with a small foam. It had a strong scent with allot of caramell and warm alcohol. The aroma was also very strong with caramell and a warm alcoholic finnish. After a while some hops came through, but the caramell was very dominant. Was this a barley wine? It sure reminded me of one. The beer got smoother at the end but overall it was a bit to 1-dimensional for me.

Pours a deep red color with a fully thick and dense off white head forming atop. Smells of strong citrus fruits, hops and a thin malty background are most prevalent. This beer tastes of caramel, booze, some toasted biscuits and maybe some cherry. Mouhfeel is rather medium bodied and the finish is delicately bitter. Very reminiscent of a barley wine.
