| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 7, 2008 Poured from a 22 oz. bottle. Transparent, syrupy amber, topped with a milky film. Sugar cookie and burnt caramel aroma stands out. Proud assertive malts. Canned mandarin oranges and pineapple, pear, and basic heat follow through with some hoppiness and heft. Lick of perfume. Flavor is chunky and bold with some grapefruit acidity washing through the ruddy graham cracker and caramel brownie malts. A big, confident, sticky take on this impish style. Palate is heavy, and very syrupy, full and lightly carbonated with a slick feeling of crystal malts that polishes it too cleanly. Honey and citrus sugars finish in a balanced, somewhat resigned conclusion. Syrupy, lacking in dank bitterness, and a mite cloying with that heavy crystal impartation, but never seeming too forced or contrived. A strong example of a weak concept. Thanks Andy! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 8, 2008 Bottle pours an attractive scarlet, ruddy brown. The nose is a bit amber ale, but a little richer and less crystal malt sweetness. The flavor is a bit complex with malts and a touch of fruitiness, with a slight bitter finish, but not as much as I thought with the description given. Decent. pantanap (1375), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 5, 2008 Color is a hazy amber with good carbonation and a nice very tight tan head. Aroma is a rich sweet caramel and hops scent. Taste is rich, sweet and hoppy. Starting with a medium body it goes down smooth with a rich feel. Finish is sweet with malt and caramel, a hint of dried fruit and then hops that bring in just a touch of citrus. In the after taste a nice bitterness rolls in balancing out the sweet body. This is a great brew, its rich and complex with bold flavor. scrizzz (1352), kirkland, Washington, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2008 Bottle. Mirky brown pour with no head and no visible action. Sweet fruity aroma, maybe some yeast, citrus hops and other hops. Flavor is the same, a lot like a west coast barleywine, with rich sweet / fruity malt and hop bitterness and citrus. Mouthfeel is a little harsh. JaBier (1294), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 23, 2009 22oz bottle. Semi-opaque red pour with a thin off-white head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Some hop presence, but smells like it might be a hoppy beer that’s past its prime. Definitely more hops in the flavor, confirming that this mutha is indeed fresh. Caramelly malt balance and a bitter finish.
