Very little head or lacing on this dark red cloudy beer. Strong hop presence in both the aroma and the taste. Sweet flavor, astringent finish. Mouthfeel was pretty thin for a big beer.

Jan 7, 2010 Sampled in a 22oz. A very rich strong ale. Much improved over some of their IPAs. Pours dark red / brown. Decent amount of head on the brew. Aroma is full of malts.

Jan 5, 2010 Birra molto tosta! al naso è ben luppolata e in bocca ha un corpo molto robusto... ma la cosa ke mi ha colpito di più è il colore rosso intenso... ottima red ale!

Jan 3, 2010 Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Amber colour. Heavy malty and hoppy powerfull complex aroma. Heavy bitter flavor. Long great heavy bitter foinish. Creamy palate. Excellent.

Jan 2, 2010 Bottle. Hazy amber colour with fine head. Very nice aroma and flavour of burnt malt and hoppy taste. Hides the high alcohol with a fine balance.

Jan 1, 2010 This is an attack in a good way. The hops really come at you. Big hop aroma. The alcohol seems higher than the 9% on the label. That being said this is one of my favorite Port offerings.

Dec 27, 2009 Bottle: Deep amber, somewhat like a dirty caramel with reddish hues, thin off-white head, very little lacing. Meaty nose, malty, definitely some hop notes, slight caramel... smells decent enough. Also getting a little citrus peel. Perhaps a smidgen of alcohol is also noticeable. Pine flavored caramel on the tongue. Seems well balanced between hop bitterness and malt sweetness. ABV of 9% is well hidden. Yep, has a citrus twang to it too. Certainly feels like a meaty/bigger version of a Red/Amber Ale. Body and mouthfeel are fairly moderate. This beer is nothing fancy, well crafted, well balanced, clean on the finish. I can certainly feel it, albeit I don’t get the alcohol on the tongue. Fairly good beer.

Dec 23, 2009 Returned from his excursion out West past Indian Country, DrBayern returned with this treasure from his Wedding Anniversary Trip. Shared with Uncle Steve, Brian the Beer Pimp, and Celticbrew.
Sweet aroma with hop and malt added in. Pours a dark red that is cloudy. Very light lacing on edge. It has a sweet malt taste with really nice bittering on the back side. A really nice beer!

Dec 16, 2009 Citrus and caramel explosion. This beer a bright, hazy red-amber with a creamy ecru head. The aroma is like a big citric American hop dipped in caramel. There’s a splash of acetone, but it doesn’t overwhelm. The hops dominate the aroma somewhat, but the malt comes out in the flavor. The beer is just the right level of sweet for its sub-style. I’d put this beer just a half step or so behind the wonderful Winter YuleSmith.
