Theis (2495), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 30, 2008 Draught at GABF 2008. Black - brown head. Vanilla, burned, wood, sharp hoppy, heavy body, sticky body, raisins, coffee, chocolate, nice hoppy. A bit too much. JohnnyJ (721), Oceanside, California, USA Oct 25, 2008 When I had this I did not realize it was an imp stout, but it was still good. Pours is a dark brown/black with light tan head. Medium mouthfeel, but still full bodied. Roasted malt, raisin, coffee, and a bit of chocolate. A pretty good amount of hops, well balanced, and finishes dry and earthy. Very drinkable for an imp stout. joergen (6821), Frederiksberg, Denmark Oct 17, 2008 Draught at GABF 2008.
Black coloured with a small beige head.
Roasted aroma of coffee, hops and pine needles.
Roasted flavour of liquorice, coffee, hops and pine needles.
Roasted and hoppy finish. FlyingSwine (143), Littleton, Colorado, USA Oct 12, 2008 on tap @ GABF: I loved this one. Pours a dark brown/black with a fat brown head. Aroma is chocolate and nuts. Flavor was far more balanced than most big stouts. Although the malt was prevelant, with some alcohol and fruit, there were quite a bit of hops in the background on this one. Palate was about as thick and creamy as you can get, although I found it to be just a bit TOO thick for my tastes. Finishes a tad dry. Overall one of the best beers I sampled at GABF. Well done. DaSilky1 (1669), San Diego, California, USA Sep 21, 2008 slightly smokey nose with hint of chocolate covered raisins. blackish beer, solid tan head. very raisiny flavors with a background of chocolate. somewhat sweet and full pleasant mouthfeel. not much roast notes at all...and a firm alcoholic background. this is actually a remarkably drinkable, sweet, raisiny stout and a very nice change of pace from most big stouts...it almost has a slight vinious character as well. this is aperfect session imperial if such a thing exists...nothing bombards your palate but everything is soft and gentle, sweet and raisiny, and, well..i dig it.
