On tap at the brewpub. Sampled with cquiroga, summer 2005. Opaque black; thick, creamy tan head is a dense foam that leaves a sticky but thin lace. Chocolate roast and dry hops smell. Good chocolate baseline flavor settles into a hard candy sweetness and a very delayed and subdued dry hoppy finish. Great session dry stout; would be phenomenal if the finish were more pronounced.

[At GABF 2004] A clear brown beer with a small disappearing orange head. The aroma is roasted combined with notes of coffee, while the flavor has a strong roasted malt character giving it a nice sweetness with a good amount of chocolate notes, but the body is thin.

Smoky and smoky. Smooth nitrogen head. Not as robust as most stouts, reminds me more of a porter. Tannic/dry mouth at the finish. Did I mention it’s smoky?

Had this on tap at Pizza Port San Clemente. It’s black w/ a very creamy off white head. Nice dry flavor, very easy to drink. Very smooth.

On tap@Port San Clemente: Black in color with a foamy, creamy tan head. Light dark malt aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet with a hint of coffee and cream. Finish is dry and lightly bitter. Thin, smooth creamy palate.
