"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

Can from a trade. Pours light copper, thick foamy off white head. Nose of pine. Taste is massively bitter, pine, earth, mud, then malt. This is just an old skool IPA like Run DMC.

Tap @ Toronado. Aroma & appearance are top notch! The first 2 seconds of the beer are amazing, and then it goes downhill... Initial citrus hops turn into a sweet maltiness that is unappealing and prone to headaches. To be fair, this is a 4/5 IPA anywhere else but San Diego. Draft @ Beer wars, one of the blind tastes I enjoyed. Golden orange color and a modest sandy head. Nose is heavily hopped with citrus and tropical fruit, very nice. A nice blend of bitters and sweet citrus taste. Hoppy and delicious.

Can, 0.50l. Pours clear golden color with large soapy off-white head, good lacing and sparkling appearance. Aroma of tropical fruits, berries, caramel and linden. Taste starts by moderate sweet caramel, following is resinous, grassy, slight medicinal with mild melon note and heavy bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture and soft tickling carbonation in palate. Hops are my only future hope...

Can. Nose is floral, warm, peach, mint, lots of mango. Very appealing a suited to a beach front. Taste follows, floral mango, resin, sweet peach and lychee, in the finish. Citrus floats above a grain and malty body. Hints of mint and a dab of coconut add depth. Surprisingly malty. A very well balanced beer and it’s possible to see the genealogy of the beer in developing the west cost IPA as suggested.
