"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

Formerly 7.4% when brewed at Solana Beach location.

Translucent, magnifying orangey copper with a thick, café frothed and orange tinted head. Aroma rings with honeydew and lemon grass, freshly cut after a mid-summer rain. It’s timed perfectly for the season. Sweet orange crème toffee crests on the aromatic ridge. Bitter peaches trollop with maple covered grapefruit. Peaches, amaretto and balsa wood interweave. Honeyed marigolds and tinctured carbonation ride a horizontal line across the tongue. A gentle, grassy ridge cuts sweet bitterness to the edge. Thanks for the 750-ml. bottle, tpkenned!

12-oz can, muled back from an OC retailer who pulled it off the truck seconds before selling it; about as fresh as I can get this beer in Seattle. Thanks, K! Pours a cloudy medium amber with bright orange gradient highlights at the edges. Sudsy off-white head that sticks around. Bright tangy citric and tropical nose with a little resin; showing mostly grapefruit and a bit of mango with resin underneath. Just a little bit of malty caramel. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Light caramel under a steady wash of grapefruit, mango, and resin. Long dry resiny finish. Nice one.

Can poured a golden color with a thin layer of white head. Aroma has punchy hops, citrus, resins, and sweet underlying malt. Mouth feel is medium with good carbonation and nice coating. Flavor brings in light bitterness, citrus, sweet malt, and bits of pines. Nice stuff to be drinking after chopping some trees!

16oz can from phesterjau, thanks Jess. For my 2200th rating - on a terrific spring weekend! Pours a golden pale orange with a rocky white head leaving a lot of lace. Aroma has big grassy hops with citrus, light pine and some toffee malts. Love the grassiness. Taste is of sweet fruits, tropical citrus fruits; mango, pineapple, light grapefruit, light pine, all sitting on a toffee malt base. Sweet and tasty fruity. Softly carbonated, the blend is well done with very little alcohol presence. The body is light to medium. Finishes fruity sweet to the sweeter side of bittersweet. This was quite excellent as a West Coast IPA 15.
