COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

Formerly 7.4% when brewed at Solana Beach location.

Perfect example of san diego style ipa. Very clean and dry with citric hop flavors taking center stage. Very good stuff.

16 ounce can. Pours a pale gold with a nice white head. Aroma of citrus and pine. Taste is grapefruit, lemon, tropical, pine, and grass. Very hoppy, too bitter for me.

16 oz can poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Canned on 6/2/2014 at Carlsbad. Pours light golden yellow with 2.5 fingers of off-white head. Aromas of lemon lime, light grapefruit, floral. Tastes of pine, citrus, floral, bitter piney hops. Medium-light body and semi-dry. Juicy mouthfeel. Solid IPA.

16 FL. oz. silver can, supplied by GT2 ( as an extra) - many thanks! To over-sized snifter, it pours a yellowish honeycomb orange with which an off-white head 1 finger in length stood. Aromas of Swiss cheese, chives, cat urine, copper, denim jeans, sweat,, noble hops, and bong water. Tastes much the same with the addition of sunflower seeds, clementine peels, rosemary, LME, and table sugar. Maltier than the previous Pizza Port hop-forward ale. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Could be better, could be worse... this was a neutral experience.

Light goldish pour from tap, immediate piney aroma that suggests a very hop heavy brew. Spicey, piney hops with a bit of resin, nice malty balance but clearly a hop forward IPA. Pleasantly bitter finish. Very nice. Would I drink again? Yes. Would I order again? Yes.

Can. Clear golden color, plentiful foam. Pleasant floral aroma. Refreshing light ale body, sharp pine bitterness quickly takes over. Very assertive for an IPA, slightly too much bitterness for my taste. The hop flavors are overwhelmed somewhat.

I was really happy to get to try a Pizza Port brew after years and years of this "Port Brewing" nonsense we get outside of California--and it’s a pretty nice IPA to boot. It is quite light in color, pilsener yellow and it has a foamy white head. The nose is very hop forward: citrus, herbs and pine. It’s pretty dry with some lemon coming out once tasted. This is light bodied w/ a resinous bitter finish. The end result is clean, balanced and drinkable, esp. for a higher gravity IPA.

Can from trade with dogday, thanks Erik! Pours orange gold with a big, white, lingering head. Aroma is orange citrus, dried grass, pine. More grass and citrus in the mouth, sweet and juicy up front, heavily bitter in the finish. Good, but they’ve overdone the grassy bittering hop for my tastes.

Can: Thanks Stawn: Served in a shaker: Medium sized white creamy foamy head on top of an almost clear yellow colored beer. Aromas of hops, hop fruits, hop flowers, some manure and a hint of yeast. Flavours of hops, bitters, fruit, citrus and grapefruit, herbs and grass, hint of flowers and some nettle. Quite nice, good growing bitters. Aftertaste is hoppy, bitter, grassy, grapefruit and herbs. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied and a creamy texture. Nice stuff!
