COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

Formerly 7.4% when brewed at Solana Beach location.

On tap at PP Solana beach, listed as their own IPA, but w/o the "harvest" descriptor. Orange amber color. Tight frothy head. Med-high early boil bitterness. Muted hop aroma, except through the back of the nose. Sometimes I lose smell sensation in a pizza place. Is it smell overload, or lower carbonation. Still very good, and reasonably easy to drink.

It’s like a rest after a hard swim. I just finished Pliny the Younger and Expo Hoppiness, and this is so much milder. Poured a deliciously mellow, couldy, burnt orange from a cask. Quickly dying head. A little watery, but otherwise good.

Draft at Tom’s Urban in Vegas, Fitz and Brandon. Medium translucent amber, full frothy white head, no bubbles almost whipped cream. Medium to heavy bitter, wet earthy hops, bushy. It’s ok. Nose is best part, pretty fresh hop and veggie.

Shared 16 oz. can poured to snifters, showing a hazed, orangey gold color, with a modest layer of soft white head foam, and spots & streaks of lacing. The nose was dank and expressive notes, with some citrus, but mainly a resinous scent of pine. Medium bodied, with decent carbonation, the taste remained consistently resinous throughout, with a bit of dryness to the finish. A nice interuption from the more common of late, heavily citrus varieties of IPA.

Heavy beer. Copiously hopped, rough citrus aromas, some resin, alcohol. Sharp clean bitterness, very cleanly fermented too. Rough ending, not necessarily the most drinkable, but I like it still. In fact it’s an impressive beer with huge, huge taste. Just don’t expect anything restraint, balanced or complex. Assault on the senses. With lots of alcohol heat to beat the you down. (50cl can from Saveur Bičre)

Can from Kihoskh, Copenhagen (shared with Niller) - hazy golden coloured pour with white head. Aroma and taste is a mix of tropical and citrus fruits, some floral hoppy nuances, solid malts, some caramel, tangerine, grapefruit and peach, pine needles, hoppy bitter finish. Canned only 2 months ago and it shows. Beautiful.

Slightly disappointed in this one. Nothing that makes me wants more of this brew, because there is way better around for sure. It’s enjoyable, but that’s it.
