COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

A nice copper coloured ale with a small white head. Very grapefruit citrus aroma and some pine notes. Very bitter initially but expected in an IPA nice crisp finish Great brew.

Tap at Bressi Ranch. Clear golden pour with medium head. Fresh citrus rind and peel nose. Taste is soft carbonation and body wise, but sharp hop wise with pine needle and grapefruit white. Really nice, this is my first proper West Coast IPA.

Can thanks to DJDAM. Pours a clear golden amber color with with small bubbly head that lingers a bit and leaves some good lacing too. Slightly dank hoppy aroma of mango, pineapple, grapefruit, and pine. Taste is fresh citrus and tropical fruit with some onion in the finish. Nice biscuity malt backbone. Moderate bitterness throughout. Medium body with some oiliness in the mouthfeel. Really nice IPA.

Canned on 3-24-14. Aromas primarily of orange citrus and mango. Flavors of dank, bitter herbs, citrus and light mango. Lingering flavors of bitter grapefruit. Light malt bill in background. Good stuff. Well priced. Classic West Coast IPA. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Multiple cans over the weekend. Somewhat harsh bitterness with pine, citrus, and sweet malt in both the aroma and taste. Oddly much more enjoyable for me as it neared room temperature as it dampended the bitterness. Lightly coating mouthfeel. Solid IPA.

Can from Asahiya. Sharp, near sulphury, piney nose, with some solid sweet caramel. Amber/gold color. Thick, well-ounded malt / hops blast into the mid palate and then blend nicely into the malt / hearty hop tracks last for some time. Medium-heavy body, with serious tongue-coating bitterness. Wow! Feels and tastes like an imperial.

16oz can pours with a murky hop hazed deep gold body that supports a light tan head of tall foam. The aroma offers up rich pulsing tangelo, clementine, tangerine citrus hoppy goodness lined with thinner notes of mango and yummy dank onion like spiciness. The aroma leaves you helpless where a hurried sip is the only remedy. Yes. The taste delivers solid citrus hop goodness in the form of clementine, tangelo and grapefruit hop bitterness and flavor. These note head right into modest levels of dank onion hop spiciness and a firm sugar malty base. Delicious. This requires further and repeated tastings. More to come.

16 oz. can thanks to Phatdog1. Thanks! Hazy gold in color with lasting fluffy head. Aroma is floral with blooming marigold, honeysuckle and candy sugar.

The flavor is just as awesome as the aroma. Malty, Belgian candy sugar base with bright floral and citrus hops. Some sweet grain. The bitterness is very low and only lightly lingers after it is warm. Medium body with active carbonation. This drinks like a 5% brew and is 6.8. It has a chug able aspect that could make this dangerous. I enjoyed this very much. Get a fresh can or take a trip to CA.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours translucent orange gold with a slight white head. Lots of floral and earth in the aroma. Med body. Flavor is earthy, floral with some pine/resin. It’s bitter and biting. Nice caramel support. This must have been way ahead of its time. Holds up well to today’s demands for hop, hop and more hop. Nice to have had the opportunity.

Can via trade. Nose full of pine and slightly minty. Very light tropical notes. Taste is nothing short of quenching and crushable. Light astringency. Very drinkable. Not an overwhelming in your face hop presence but very drinkable.

I don’t know why I waited so long to try this DELICIOUS IPA. I guess being connected to a restaurant threw me, but damnit...poured a nice clear gold with a fat frothy head. Smells AMAZING. Similar to IPAs made by Societe, which I love. Very hop forward, with little to no malt flavor. Mouthfeel was great, slick and oily with moderate carbonation. Overall a great beer that I will recommend time and again...keep on drinking!
