"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

Formerly 7.4% when brewed at Solana Beach location.

A nice copper coloured ale with a small white head. Very grapefruit citrus aroma and some pine notes. Very bitter initially but expected in an IPA nice crisp finish Great brew.

On tap at Pizza Port in Ocean Beach. A light copper color. Thin head. Lots of grapefruit, pine and citrus. Light sweet balance. Decent overall.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2016 Update: drank another can but this time straight from the can. Much better. I really appreciate it this time. Old rating: 16 ounces 3 weeks old can from trade with JC. Aroma: strong grapefruits (not unpleasant) mixed with a good presence of malt which unleashes mainly caramel aroma. Maybe some citrus (coming from the hop of course) from far behind too but it’s really not dominant here. App: clear golden, small to medium white head, good retention leaving good lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, a tad oily, clean moderate bitter finish. Overall: I was expecting this kind of ipa from this place. Something more balanced, less juicy or I could even say not juicy at all, and also something clean. Good but more like the kind of ipa I enjoyed when I started drinking ipa’s. Now this just feels boring to me.

Pint can from Healthy Spirits. Mostly clear bright golden with a lasting one-finger white head. The aroma is grapefruit, resin, pine. Some mild sugary malt yields to a big hop blast, quite dry and resinous/piney. Medium body with lively carbonation. Well done.

Notas presentes sin llegar a ser intensas. Naranja, toronja y mango.

2 month old can. Pours hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma of pine. plenty hops, resin, slight caramel malts, sweet orange and pretty old school overall. The taste has lots of bitter resin, crisp plenty hops, sweeter malts, pine, orange and a sticky body which points towards an older dipa. Still okay.

Can, bought @Beershoppen, Kolding. Pours hazy yellow with a medium, staying creamy white head. Aroma has exotic and citrussy hops, peach, apricot, bergamot, lemon. Crisp malts. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has good malty sweetness, a bit of a wheat character to it. Bitter, citrus, grapefruit. Nice and very fresh.
