COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"It’s hard to believe we’ve been slingin’ pizzas for 20 years since March of 1987! That’s about 7300 days or 175,200 happy hours of fun! We’re excited to celebreate by brewing and bottling up a beer to share a special toast! Swami’s IPA is one of our best selling beers. Many have called it the original San Diego IPA. As such, it’s been a big part of Pizza Port Solana Beach since we installed the brewing system in 1992. A bold IPA hopped to the extreme with galena, Centennial and Cascade hops. We also add a healthy dose of dry hops in the serving tank and always serve it unfiltered. Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing the memories along the unbelievable way...Cheers!"

Overall, this beer was terrible, it was about as vile a beer as they come. I’ll avoid it like the plague form now on.

Type: Draft Glass: Pint glass From: Pizza Port in Solana Beach, Calif. Price: $5.00 Misc.: Had on Jan. 20, 2013 Poured a caramel amber color with about one finger white head when I got it. Good lacing and good retention on the way down. Smelled floral hops, citrus hops - grapefruit and tangerine, and some light caramel malts. A nice bitterness on the nose. Tasted not quite as good. Got some skunky resin hops, citrus hips (light grapefruit and tangerine) and once again a lot if IBU’s. Still some floral hops to it. Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. A decent IPA overall, although I may have given it higher ratings than it deserved.

Tap at Sour&Bitter Copenhagen. Looks good in the glass, almost copper coloured, nice head. Starts mild, fine fruity like lemon, flowery-hoppy. Finish well balanced, still mild, not too bitter. Grasy-dry aftertaste. Good!

Draught @ [ Sour&Bitter 2012 ] @ Refshalevej 163A, 1432 Copenhagen K, Denmark.

Clear medium to dark orange colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120510]

On tap @ Sour & Bitter Dinner, Copenhagen. Deep hazy orange, medium off-white head. Aroma is syrupy herbal hops, nougat, hints of grain and caramel. Mellow, but unsurprising. Taste is earthy herbal hops, resin and a long, grassy, near-astringent aftertaste. OK, but I think it lacks balance. Mouthfeel is creamy and nice. An decent IPA with too much aftertaste bitterness; a bit less would probably have bumped the score higher.
