On tap at PP Carlsbad. It pours dark brown with orange highlights and a creamy khaki head. The aroma is bitter dark chocolate and coffee. The flavor is creamy and roasted with coffee, cocoa, and a nice roasted/ashy finish. Big flavor for a small beer. Nice job.

A: The pour is just about black with a creamy, khaki colored head that exhibits excellent retention.
S: Like most beers of the style, heavy on the roast and coffee aromas. A little bit of licorice and dark chocolate giving the beer some sweetness. Earthy hops are there in the background.
T: Intense coffee flavor or both the beverage itself and of coffee grounds. Cocoa and dark chocolate, along with earthy hops, provide a fairly substantial bitterness. A touch of molasses and toffee for sweetness.
M: Medium in body with a smooth, creamy carbonation.
O: Goes down pretty easily. It’s nice to have some of these lower ABV beers. Especially a good one like this.

This is a review for the Port Truck with coconut and rum soaked oak chips on cask at Pizza Port. The pour is a very dark brown with a small head and some just ok lacing. The smell is terrific. Toasted coconut, bread, coffeee, some vanilla. The taste is fantastic too. It has a great toasted malt, coffee, and toasted coconut flavor. Very well balanced and almost crisp tasting. I could even imagine myself drinking it on a hot day in the sun! Mouthfeel was silky and smooth and the finish was slightly bitter with a tinge of sweet. Kudos to the Pizza Port guys on this one!!

On tap at PB TapRoom. This might have been past its prime. Pours to style. Very average in flavor -- coffee, wet wood, and dusty malt. Bland.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TimE (2604) - Tokyo, JAPAN - JAN 6, 2011
thin dry lots of roasty character, but too thin. Not bad. At the brewery it was listed as 4.1%. Could be the change in recipe is not good for the beer.
