Very similar to Guinness both in taste and texture. The aroma was better though. The taste was only slightly better. Nothing too huge about this beer.

Black creamy micro bubble head. Smells of sweet fruit. Dry, bitter, muted and a bit oily. Huge lacing, lacking a bit in mouth feel, somewhat thin.

On tap (nitro) at PP Carlsbad: Nearly opaque with a huge frothy tan head and very good lace thanks to mister nitro. The aroma has notes of chocolate, smoke, rye toast, grassy hops and a hint of dusty yeast esters. The taste is basic toasted malt with notes of pear and apple over a mocha smoked background. A hint of walnut towards the finish. The mouth feel is completely too thin and watery, does make it refreshing which I guess was the point. Your standard dry stout, nothing wonderful but drinkable.

On nitro in Carlsbad after the 12-hour belgian beer party. Lots of coffee and chocolate on the flavor and the aromas. Very roasty flavor. Some bitterness from the burnt malt flavor. Very tasty

On tap at Carlsbad on 6/30/06: Pours a mostly opaque black with dark brown edges and a creamy nitro tan head. Lightly sweet, malty and roasty coffee aroma has some dark chocolate notes. Body starts with a mild sweetness and some earthy smoky notes thinning toward a mild, smooth roasty dry finish. Could use some more balance, but otherwise a decent stout.

I had this ondraft a while back at Pizza Port Carlsbad. I just found my notes. This struck me is as a dry irish stout: roasty, light/medium body. quaffable.

And so i finally am able to try yet another fine brew from tha port. This one was on nitro at liars club. I dont dig nitro, it makes it way too foamy. This had a nice thick chocolate vibe to it, kinda like hot chocolate. Not too bold or over stated, just quite nice and subtle.

On cask at the Carlsbad location. Pours a creamy dark black color with some ruby hues and a frothy head of tan foam. Aromas of lightly roasted coffee and unsweetened cocoa drift from the glass. A whiff of vanilla lingers as well. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Fairly rich, creamy chocolate flavors - a bit on the dark side and with a pleasant fruity character that seperates this one a bit from an otherwise typical rendetion of a creamy stout. Nice and chocolatey in the final smack with a touch of prune.
