"Not a standout within style, but its a pretty nice beer overall. Slight dark fruit, a good dose of maltiness, a slightly sticky medium-full body and very very slight peat.

Magenta and clear with little foam. Malty aroma and sweet caramel body. More like a porter than a scotch ale but still good.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the brewpub. A clear dark brown one, topped by a small dense light beige head. Dried fruits, tobacco, mocha notes and roasted malts in the aroma, really lovely. It’s super smooth on the palate, faintly warming, full body. Lots of flavors too, sweetness and some bitterness, as well as all the good stuff found in the flavor. Long finish with a good chocolate touch. Plain wonder malt forward beer. 130813

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap @ PP San Clemente: Poured dark leather brown with a perfect layer of film foam covering. The drink is dry yet balanced with some sweet malts and bitter hops. One of the more tamed Scotch ales I have had. The beer is almost bland absolutely no sweetness in the flavor other than a sticky sugary residue around my lips and a wimpy background of chocolate cocoa beans. Aroma is faint and I am unable to pick up on any scent at all.
