Tap @ The Bistro’s 2010 10th Annual Double IPA Festival. A deep golden color with a crisp herbal flavor. This beer was well balanced and clean.

Pours a hazy golden orange with fluffy off-white head that dissipates to leave great webby lace. Aroma of strong west coast hops, resinous pine and citrus playing nicely off each other. Taste follows, clean and bitter, soft carbonation that keeps it light for the high alcohol. Very nice IPA.

A clear orange/yellow colored beer, with a thick foamy white head. The aroma of fruits like citrus, some nettle, a little alcohol with hops. The taste is dry bitter, fruity with nettle and some alcohol. The aftertaste is fruity and very dry bitter.

Draft in cask at hamiltons with Linh. Pours a lightly hazy yellow body with thick white head. Aroma is fresh grapefruit and other citrus fruits and light malts. Mouthfeel is creamy with light bitter citrus, fresh hop but a tremendous amount of sweet caramel malts coming out - maybe due t the cask conditioning.

brokensail (10530) - Orange County, California, USA - JUN 12, 2012
Pours amber in color with a finger of white head and lots of sticky lacing. Heavy on the citrus and tropical fruit notes up front with plenty of grapefruit all the way through. Good orange peel notes with a touch of sweet malt. The flavor is a touch sweet, but good hop bite and bitterness. Plenty of citric qualities with a touch of tropical fruit sweetness. Very easy to drink for 8.4%.

A - Served a slightly hazy golden-orange color with a finger of frothy white head atop. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing. S - Aroma is full of citrus hops with lots of orange and lemon coming through with a bit of sweet caramel malts. Some pine hop as well as a bit of bready malt. T - Starts off with big citrus hop flavor with some lemon and orange peel, along with some good bitterness and a touch of sweet caramel malt. Through the middle, some more citrus flavor alongside some pine hop and some more bitterness and a bit of bready malt. The finish is a mix of bitter citrus hops and sweet caramel malt that lingers. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry, sweet, and bitter finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice big hoppy beer with lots of bitterness but enough malt to balance it all out nicely.

AirForceHops (2939) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - JAN 31, 2012
Draft @ Sunset Grill. Served in a tulip. Perfect poor. Thick head and sheets of spider web lacing. Nose is perfect bouquet of flowers and grapefruit.  Taste is very dry with lots of citrus and a touch of malt to balance it all out. Lightly bitter finish, easy on the palate. Smooth and easy. Nothing to over the top. Maybe not enough for Big Hopheads

Tried as a sampler at the Monk. Agree with the previous rating as a quite serviceable DIPA though I was expecting more. A strong malt backbone with aromas of orange, grapefruit and a hint of caramel.

Faint toffee and tropical fruit nose. Really bitter. Too much alcohol. Nothing on the original, but still a serviceable DIPA.
