3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 aracauna (2855) - Georgia, USA - JUN 3, 2008
Pours a clear gold. It has a nice pine hop, although it is not aggressive. Nice pizza beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Suttree (4452) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JUN 2, 2008
Enjoyable IPA. Seems to veer towards the citrusy flavors, as opposed to piney or resiney, and bitter more than sweet. While not particularly unique, it was still tasty and well made. Sampled at Noogfest 4.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2008 Noogfest Four-O
Growler, courtesy jcwattsrugger. Pours copper in color, with hazy shrouds of lacing, and a decent white head. Soft creamy pine aromas, and some interesting armpitness...but the good kind of armpit. Slight vanilla. Strong pine immediately hits the tongue and gives way to a fairly decent malt body. Finish is hoppy. Fairly drinkable and well-balanced.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 ChainGangGuy (4120) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JUN 2, 2008
Appearance: Pours a clear, orangey body with a thin, wispy, white head.
Smell: Aroma of crispy toffee candy along with lemons, tangerines, and a wisp of pulverized grain dust.
Taste: Pale malts with a toffee candy sweetness. Hint of grain. Citrusy hop character with a cleansing, medium bitterness. Drying, bittersweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s OK; basic but decent, y’know?

Sampled at Noog4. Growler thanks to JCWatts. Amber pour with no head. Butterscotch notes in the nose and that’s about all. Harsh earthy hops on a water thin body. Dryish mouth feel. No sir. These guys need to stick with making pizza.

I was a little disappointed with this one. Maybe it was the batch, or the keg but it tasted skunked to me - certainly don’t expect that at a brewpub. It poured orange amber with a small white head. I couldn’t taste too much hops. Next time I go back I’ll try it again and rerate it if I find it to be better. Hopefully it was just the batch. I normally like the IPAs.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rastacouere (6042) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 28, 2007
Clear orange hue covered by a rather lacy white 1cm cover. Strong on the bready malts. A rather clean and focused example with crisp hoppiness, though not that bitter hops. Just balanced leafy and orange nuances. Very active carbonation, as seems to be the standard for that brewery, bites the tongue and removes the pleasant juiciness while levelling upwards the dryness. Well done and straightforward IPA, though subtler carbonation would suit my tastes better.

Not really worth going into great detail about this one, as it’s a decent "session" style IPA that was probably designed to appeal to the "Joe Schmoe" who takes his wife and kids to Uno on a Saturday night. Considering that, it’s better than anything else you’re ever going to find at a chain restaurant.

Tap at Hop Devil Grill. Deep amber beer, light malty on the nose, soft earthy aroma with bright floral hop character. A touch minerally as well. Flavour is well-balanced, with earthy/floral hops over a lean pale malt base. Just a hint of sweetness. Moderate bitterness wit a dry finish. Very sessionable beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sheatripper (863) - Brooklyn, New York, USA - MAY 4, 2007
Draught at HDG. Basic but attractive copper pour with a frothy off-white head. Faint caramel malt and hop aroma, but mostly clean. Light caramel malt flavor with a dry grapefruit hop finish. Balanced and drinkable, but nothing special for an IPA and mostly forgettable. Probably better when paired with mediocre chain restaurant pizza.
