Cask handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, Tuesday 7th August 2012 Pours dark amber a little bit biscuity from the off, reasonable beer, bittersweet, lacks a real hoppy bite, some caramel, its absolutely fine but one that I drank without really thinking about it, so it didn’t really leave much of an impression on me at all. Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Amber with a thin, suddy, cream head; sweet biscuity aroma, reminding me of Custard Creams; soft, soapy texture, with a creamy malt flavour - reminding me of Ovaltine - perhaps I’m regressing to my childhood?; the finish is dry and lightly bitter. Very pleasant and rather unusual.
